We had the good fortune of connecting with Emily Brown and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Emily, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
In 2018 we purchased our first TC Teardrop after the birth of our daughter with great hopes of family adventures, weekend getaways, and cross-country road trips. In 2020, as the world shut down due to the global pandemic, we saw an opportunity to help people get out of their homes and back into nature. We regularly began renting out our single teardrop and decided to purchase two more TC Teardrops and develop a small business. That marked the beginning of Wild Heart Teardrop Rentals.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Wild Heart Teardrops started with a simple idea. We wanted to give people an experience that went beyond renting a camper. We knew our interaction with each renter and trust they put in us was fundamental in their overall experience. When people come to pickup our campers we want to give them more than just a handoff, but also walk through all the details of the campers and ask them about their trips and what they planned to do and see. People get really excited to tell you about their planned adventures and want to share stories and pictures and much as we want to hear them. We started using social media to post our renters photos and also to share everywhere our campers have traveled to.

There has definitely been challenges along the way of building our business. My husband and I both have full-time jobs and two young children. We are committed to putting our family first, and we did not want to compromise time with our girls while running our side hustle. We run Wild Heart Teardrops out of our own garage, and it’s important to us that our children see the work and dedication we put into our business. We are truly a family run business. Even our two-year-old helps get the campers cleaned and ready to go out.

We decided on the name Wild Heart because we believe that in every person lies a wild heart. Whether your wild heart takes you on a month-long solo mission across the continent, or a on family camping weekend getaway just up the road, we want to be a part of the adventure. It brings us so much joy to hear how our campers can provide the means for travel and happiness.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We love being a part of the outdoor community in Atlanta, and many people might not realize all the parks and trails around the city that make the highways feel miles away. Some of our favorites are the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area, Sweetwater Creek State Park, Morgan Falls Overlook Park and the Roswell Riverwalk Boardwalk.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
We’d like to shoutout to our renters and everyone who’s taken a chance and hit the road with our campers in tow. Many of our renters have become regulars and look to us when planning their outdoor adventures. It is a wonderful community to be a part of, and we are grateful for everyone we’ve met along the way of building our business.
