We had the good fortune of connecting with Elsie Mobley and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Elsie, how do you define success?
I love thinking of success more as a mindset than as a number. I have met people making well under $100k a year who are extremely successful they are wise with their budget by living within their means, they have strong bonds with their friends family and community and their sense of self worth does not steam from money but instead from a high purpose.
As a photographer I get to travel quite a lot and I enjoy it so much because I get to see success at such different levels!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My business is continually growing and I love seeing the changes and some times challenges along the way. I’d say something that makes me different than other photographers is that I’m constantly learning and adapting and edifying my skill and craft to be better and better every shoot.
My look I go for is timeless and natural to the times of the environment you are in because I want to truly capture that moment in time so when you look back on that photo you are transported back in time for a moment.
My story is I am a girl who has been blessed with encouraging friends and family who heard my dreams and supported them and other photographers who gave me incredible advice that really jump started everything for my business.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I was born and raised in McDonough Georgia and one of my favorite things to do when I’m down town ATL is the classic trip to The Varsity, and the evening going to have a fancy night out at The Fox Theater. Little five points and The Vortex are a fun spot to visit as well and there’s usually a concert in the area to stop by and enjoy too!
The Aquarium is an absolute must as well their whale shark is a thing of beauty.
And outside of the City I love going to Georgias beautiful “U-Picks” wether it’s Flowers & Blueberries from Fox Mountain Farms in Rising Fawn Georgia or Peaches from Dickies peaches in South Georgia it’s always fun.
I also enjoy the hikes Georgia has to offer around Atlanta or Tubing down Helen’s rivers there is always something fun to be doing in the state of Georgia.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d like to give a shout out to my sweet husband who not only encouraged me to go professional with photography but also is so incredibly helpful with his role as a Father to our 4 incredible children, him being so helpful and so present in their lives makes me spending time doing my job guilt free knowing he’s not a “babysitter” but an active parent in their lives. I’d also like to give a shout out to my sweet Grandpa Brown who passed away years ago but he and I always bonded over photography and he was the first person who saw my work (at the age of maybe 10) and said you’ve got an eye you should really purse this.
Him having so much confidence in me and allowing me to borrow his cameras from time to time really gave me the start I needed to succeed.
And of course my parents who always encouraged us as kids to not care about what others versions of success look like but if we were going to do something work hard at it and don’t expect anything to be handed to you.
