We had the good fortune of connecting with Elizabeth Pehrson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Elizabeth, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
About ten years ago, I felt like I was about to embark on something new. Something different. With eight children, multiple volunteer roles and a busy life, I felt like God was nudging me in a new direction. I had gifts and talents inside of me that were not being used, and therefore I was not living to my full potential. I believe that each of us are unique and sharing our passions with others is a gift; and that gift is meant to be given away. That is why I created The Exchange. I meet with women all the time, that are unhappy, unfulfilled and desperately seeking their purpose in life. For so many years, they have put everyone and everything before themselves, and they have forgotten who they are. In the words of Marianne Williamson, whatever makes your heart sing, that’s God way of telling you it’s a contribution he wants you to make.” And I want to help women rediscover what that is. I have a heart and a passion for helping women live this one beautiful, messy life we have been given, on PURPOSE and with INTENTION.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
When women come together with a collective intention, powerful things happen. For almost ten years, we have been meeting together monthly with the collective intention of wanting to be our very best selves. I believe that the better me that I can be, the better version of me those around me get! And I believe the same is true of you. The better version of you that you can be, the best version those around you get! We have outgrown four facilities. We weathered covid and the economy and somehow came out even stronger. Women need each other. We are hard wired for connection and we are better together. When we come together in a real, authentic and vulnerable way, it encourages others to do the same! And The Exchange offers a safe forum for women to do just that.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Well, my best friend and I are both pretty “outdoorsy”, so if she came for a week, we would definitely make the most out of the beautiful North Georgia mountains. I would take her boating/jet-skiing on Lake Lanier. We would go kayaking and possibly fishing in the lake by my house. We would definitely hit one or two easy hikes, like Amicalola Falls and the Indian Seats. If it were a nice night, we would head on over to Truist Park and catch a Braves game. And somewhere in between Mexican food (at Superica at The Avalon), my favorite breakfast spot (Refresh in Cumming), some in-home massages, I would take her down to The Fox and catch a show (preferably a comedian!). And if we time her visit just right, I would bring her to The Exchange on the third Thursday of the month! 🙂

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
‘I get by with a little help from my friends’ is not just a catchy lyric. It is the foundation of my so-called success! I have had countless mentors and friends that have supported me every step of this journey. But I would have to say, that it is women that want more, women that believe in our mission, women that want to be intentional with their lives, that have made The Exchange so impactful. Women that encourage, support and empower other women is my favorite, because when we support each other, incredible things happen!!!
