Meet Elizabeth Forster | Baker & Business Coach

We had the good fortune of connecting with Elizabeth Forster and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Elizabeth, other than deciding to work for yourself, what was the single most important decision you made that contributed to your success?
To be honest, the answer to this question is simple, I chose me. The decision to choose me over anything else was the best decision I have ever made. Prior to entering the world of entrepreneurship, I held onto an identity that prioritized what I did verses who I am. For over 10 years I pursued veterinary medicine as my career and to become a veterinarian and within that journey I assumed the role of becoming a veterinarian. However, the pursuit of a dream consumed my life and although my career aspirations and goals were pioneered by my ambition, my tenacity, and courage, I realized that the essence of who I am was secondary to what I do. Once I had time to reflect after working for myself, I realized that in order to become successful in this entrepreneurship journey I had to choose myself and who I am as a person, my god given gifts, my passion for people, my creativity, and my ability to pour back into me through self development, mindset shifts, and dedication to cultivating and building a stronger relationship with God.

What should our readers know about your business?
As many people did, I started my business journey during Covid 19 in 2020. I made a decision to start something new during this time and officially launched my business in April of 2021. from cats to cupcakes, I decided to start a cupcake business. Since then, I have experience many highs and many lows in my baking business and too often had to stop baking all together. But, I realized that in order to truly become successful, you must keep going. But one thing Covid taught me is that its okay to pivot. It’s okay to change your mind. It’s okay to start something new. In addition to building and growing my own business, I often found joy in just coaching others build their businesses. New or aspiring entrepreneurs often seek guidance through other social media platforms to help them as I once was. I was told once that your target audience, especially in the coaching business is that your ideal client is the person you used to be. Throughout my own journey, I’ve learned many lessons along the way that I really enjoy sharing with new or aspiring entrepreneurs in the baking or food industries. From having the courage to start a cupcake business after my pursuit of veterinary medicine ended, to hustling in the parking lot selling my cupcakes from my trunk, to being featured on television, sharing the stage with Pinky Cole of Slutty Vegan to now becoming a featured speaker at events, I have definitely come a long way in short period of time. Although my focus has shifted to becoming a business coach for new or aspiring entrepreneurs, my cupcakes business has continued to grow and evolve as well and most importantly, I’ve evolved.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
As a member of the Black Owned business support team, unofficially, I would take my best friend to some of the best black-owned , professional, and exceptional places to eat, drink, relax and have fun! On the list of places to eat, in no particular order, would be 1)MCK, Restaurant and Bar, 2) Velvet Taco, 3) Slutty Vegan ,4) R Real Tacos, 5) Ponce City Market Food Hall, 6) Eight Sushi Lounge 7) Rock Steady, 8) Toast on Lenox, 9) Breakfast at Barneys, 10) JJ Fish & Chicken, 11)Slim + Husky’s Pizza, 12) Fellini”s Pizza There is always something to do and usually it involves purchasing a ticket of some sort, such as concerts, movies, shows, networking events but I want to list some things I would bring my best friend too that are essentially no cost to have fun. On the list of places to go, in no particular order, would be 1) Piedmont Park, 2) Roswell Mill Waterfall, 3) Walk the Beltline, 4) Stone Mountain, 5) Truist Park, Braves Stadium. As for the historical legacy that exist here, if my best friend was interested I would take them to the Martin Luther King Jr Museum. There are so many ways to have a good time here in Atlanta.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to Shoutout the business coaches who pour their life into helping other entrepreneurs, specifically You tube channels and Podcast dedicated to creating content around entrepreneurship and self development. I tend to consume a large amount of content specifically about self development, business growth, and having a growth mindset, not for the sake of just learning but, learning, doing, then teaching. I want to become a resource for others, as those are to me. We all have the same opportunity to build businesses, become wealthy, impact others and make a difference and there are people out there who help you do just that. We tend to be the main factor stopping ourselves from becoming who we want. You have to truly want it. But it starts within.
