We had the good fortune of connecting with Elizabeth Carlile and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Elizabeth, why did you pursue a creative career?
Why did I pursue an artistic or creative career? This is a question I get asked often, and every time I reflect on it, my answer deepens and evolves. Growing up, I always had an inclination towards the arts. Whether it was acting in school plays, writing short stories, or simply daydreaming about different worlds, creativity was my way of making sense of the world around me.

Acting, in particular, has offered me an outlet to explore different facets of the human experience. It allows me to step into someone else’s shoes and understand their emotions, struggles, and triumphs. This not only helps me grow as an individual but also provides a powerful medium to connect with others on a deeply emotional level.

When I started the Motherhood Unstressed podcast, it felt like a natural extension of my artistic journey. The podcast became a platform where I could blend my love for storytelling with meaningful conversations. It’s a space where we explore the complexities of motherhood, the power of resilience, and the beauty of creativity in shaping our lives.

One of the most rewarding aspects of my career has been involving my kids in this journey. Seeing the world through their eyes, with their unfiltered curiosity and boundless imagination, has been a humbling experience. It has redefined what success means to me. Success is not just about professional achievements or accolades; it’s about living a life filled with passion, creativity, and meaningful connections. It’s about showing my children that pursuing what you love can lead to a fulfilling and beautiful life.

The power of creativity is immense. It allows us to express our deepest thoughts and emotions, to connect with others, and to create a life that reflects our true selves. Whether through acting, podcasting, or simply engaging in everyday creative activities with my kids, I’ve realized that creativity is the thread that weaves a rich and vibrant tapestry of life.

In pursuing an artistic career, I’ve learned that it’s not just about the end product, but the journey itself. It’s about embracing the process, the highs and lows, and finding joy in the act of creation. This is a lesson I hope to impart to my children, encouraging them to follow their passions and trust in the power of their creativity to build a life of beauty and purpose.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
How did I get to where I am today professionally? It’s a journey that has been anything but easy, filled with both exhilarating highs and challenging lows. The path to building a career in the arts and as a podcast host has been paved with perseverance, a lot of hard work, and the unwavering support of my loved ones.

In the acting world, I face numerous rejections and moments of self-doubt. Each audition that didn’t go my way felt like a setback, but I learned to see them as stepping stones rather than obstacles. It was through these experiences that I developed resilience and a deeper understanding of my craft. Every “no” became an opportunity to refine my skills, to grow, and to better prepare for the next opportunity.

The world of podcasting presents its own set of challenges. Building an audience, securing engaging guests, and finding my unique voice were all hurdles I had to overcome. There were times when I questioned whether I was on the right path, but the feedback from listeners and the meaningful connections I made kept me going.

The lessons I’ve learned along the way are invaluable. First and foremost, I’ve learned the importance of persistence. Success rarely comes overnight, and the ability to keep pushing forward despite setbacks is crucial. I’ve also learned the power of authenticity. In both acting and podcasting, being true to myself and sharing my genuine experiences has resonated deeply with my audience. Lastly, I’ve come to understand the significance of community. Surrounding myself with supportive, like-minded individuals has been essential to my growth and success.

I want the world to know that my journey is a testament to the power of creativity, resilience, and passion. Through the Motherhood Unstressed podcast, I aim to inspire and uplift others by sharing stories that matter. My brand is built on the belief that by embracing our creative selves and persevering through challenges, we can lead fulfilling, beautiful lives.
