We had the good fortune of connecting with Elizabeth and Katherine Ward and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Elizabeth and Katherine, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
We have always been passionate about food and high quality ingredients in everything we eat. We both really enjoy charcuterie and have loved trying foods from different countries throughout our travels. During the pandemic we wanted to share our love of food in a way that was Covid friendly. Our charcuterie boxes are great for sharing good food and connecting people in a pandemic friendly way.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
With Savorbox, we have had the good fortune to work with amazingly compassionate producers of the highest quality meats, cheeses, and accompaniments. I am so proud to get to help celebrate their craft with our charcuterie boxes. While there are other places where you can buy a cheese board, we make it our central focus to showcase local and regional artisanal dairies, farms and bakeries. I believe you can taste the difference in food made with passion and that’s what we strive to impart to our customers with every box. Savorbox would be nothing without the farmers and craftspeople doing their best to care for others through the food they make.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
There’s a ton to do in Atlanta, so a week is definitely not long enough! You can’t go wrong starting your day at Perc Coffee in Virginia Highlands or East Lake. Pick up a latte and a homemade pop tart to get rolling. Atlanta is a green city, so I spend as much time outside as possible. From Perc, it’s easy to hit the Beltline and walk to Piedmont Park and enjoy the fall weather. I know it’s not much of a hidden secret, but the Atlanta Botanical Gardens right next door to the park is my single favorite spot in the city. The beautiful gardens with the Atlanta skyline in the background are tough to beat. If you’re hungry after all that walking, Alon’s and the General Muir are both great lunch spots. To relax a little in the afternoon, there are bunch of great local breweries around town. It seems like there are more popping up all the time, but I love Steady Hand over on the Westside. If beer isn’t your thing, Perrine’s Wine Shop on the Westside is my go to. They are so knowledgable and helpful and Perrine herself is a blast. If you’re up for a little road trip, Arabia Mountain just east of the Perimeter off 20 is the best greenspace in the city. The rolling granite hills are the main attraction, but there are forest trails, beautiful fields and waterfalls. Definitely a great spot for a charcuterie box picnic! On the weekend, I’d head into Decatur and stroll the square to find a drink and a bite to eat. There are so many great restaurants and bars to choose from, but hit up Butter & Cream for a scoop of ice cream when you’re done with dinner. In the morning, head to Grant Park and check out their awesome farmer’s market. You can get breakfast while you shop produce from farmers across the state. Finish off that stop with a trip to the zoo or hop over to Summerhill and grab a killer (and healthy) lunch at Maepole.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to shoutout to my grandmother, June Anderson… she is an amazing independent woman and has inspired me and my sister with her relentless hard work, perseverance and positivity. From running her own business to supporting our family, she has endless energy that she pours into all of us. We love you, PG!
