We had the good fortune of connecting with Elegra Warren and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Elegra, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
Overtime, I think I’ve gotten better at balancing. Initially I struggled to put enough time into things and got easily distracted. For me, balancing starts with organizing. I found that I was always more productive when I scheduled things, and planned it all out.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
So with today’s climate change, I always wanted to find a way to help out the environment. I initially wanted to get my designs manufactured, but decided to go the sustainable route. I use dead stock fabric or remnants from the fabric store to create my designs. My pieces are 1 of 1. I view them as art because of the time I put in, the constant editing, and the overall aesthetic.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I feel like Atlanta is one of those places where the people around you make things more fun and interesting, no matter if you’re in midtown at the high museum, or Piedmont park having a group picnic, if the vibes are good, you can have fun anywhere.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to give a shout-out out to my closest friend Lavance Lining Jr. aka (@lavanceliningart) he has been a very motivating companion and created my logo. I’d also like to thank Sam Glover (@suaveconcierge) a celebrity stylist, who allowed me to be apart of my first fashion show ever. It really boosted my confidence and helped me get out of my comfort zone.
