We had the good fortune of connecting with Efe Iriogbe and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Efe, what makes you happy? Why?
Doing what i love and brings me comfort which is designing on my computer and being around with loved ones also make me happy.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a digital illustrator, with over 6 years of experience in the industry, I came up with a unique art concept of turning iconic photos of people into silhouette vector artworks that has been able to get the appeal of so many clients. My interest for art began when i was 5 years old, I would draw on a piece of paper and run in the house where my family lived in to go show someone for approval. When i got into college, I began I began my journey as a graphic designer to leverage my passion for art and love for computers, soon after, I became an Illustrator. I became one not with the mindset of turning it into a business venture but as a form of therapy to quell my worries and be absent from the world a little, hence it became a leisure activity for me which i would not trade for anything in the world today.
It was not an easy journey for me, there were times during my creative bloc phase I’d want to give up and throw away, but i found my strength through the comfort of my friends and family members who were there for emotional support. I learnt over the years as a designer that challenges are part of the creative process even if sometimes we all wish we could just erase them from existence, but then how would we grow? How would we reach new heights in the creative process? I grew to understand that good designs whether it’s in graphics or in art take time and learning to accept that has what has kept me going.
I am African by origin, but i reside in the US, I want my art to change the world perspective about my origin, I want to tell African stories using my art and by becoming an animator as well which has been a long lasting desire of mine.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I live in Atlanta, Georgia, so if my best friend was visiting the city and I am to Host him/her, I’ll defintily take them on a trip around the city at night, Atlanta is no Las Vegas but at night the city is beautiful. Second place I’d take them would be 6 flags, a fun park I feel you are meant to go with someone by your side and not alone, third place would be a not so expensive continental restaurant in Mid town Atlanta. Reason why I said “not so expensive” is because I’d want him/her to see and get to meet people from all works of life in this beautiful city.
