We had the good fortune of connecting with Edward Baxter and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Edward, how do you think about risk?
Risk taking is getting out of your comfort zone. You can look at risk as a big fearsome situation or a small hurdle, changing my environment was a risk. I was use to where I was at and not understood that the people around me was holding me back and hurting me because I allow it assuming this was it for me. Putting myself into situations that would risk losing my life and eventually did lose some of my freedom, jail time. So after understanding risk by taking hits that didn’t feel good to me I move away from all that hinder the greatness within me. Educating myself in whatever it was that I wanted to grow in was the first risk I took that follower along with moving to another state and city. I never let my pass be the reason I fail but I see it as life lessons that was suppose to happen to me. Taking risks that made sense to take that would better me and my career is worth the risk. Many more risks and years to go.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a man of many skills, a master barber and Instructor, Sound engineer and Teacher. I have work for some great people in the music, film and sporting industry and that’s with the risk of going to college to further my education and get connections. So to name a few people I work with and the companies. The college that started the big job opportunities for me was SAE(Sound Audio Engineer) Institution in Atlanta GA, they land me jobs as a stagehand with Crew one a company that did a lot of live sound setups for major concerts and sporting events, so I got to work for and with, Billy Joel, Neil Diamond, Paul McCarthy, Chris Brown Birthday Bash, Kendrick Lamar Damn It tour, U2 the band, Disney on Ice, Tim McGraw and Faith Hill, Roger Waters, Metallica, Mary J Blige and more. Live Nation was another company I got a chance to work for and it was the Super Bowl XXXIV In Atlanta GA that was a blessing and one more accomplishments added to my life story and work with Earth Wind and Fire. I was not easy to get there, its hard work and you have to love and enjoy doing what you are doing to get the most out of it. I have overcome things I thought I could never imagine I would have been in those positions. Never give up on what you want out of life it will not come easy and if it do know the hard times you did not go through you will have to go through it. I would want the world to know you can come from the struggles, hardship, misguided, not taught how to grow your finances but still overcome all that wast taught and you go get it because you want it, because you deserve it. Know That my companies and I will be a household name, Linc Up Ent is one that house many companies we have and will build.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would send you to the Rose bar on piedmont on Tuesday but all the days the open are good days to go enjoy the atmosphere. The battery on Cobb parkway is the place to be, many things to do with family friends or alone. Try all the food you can or like. Its so many things to do so try what you enjoy step out your comfort zone.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My shoutout goes to all who has been in my life good or bad, many was mentors I learn from by watching their success or failures. My family is a motivation to go harder be a leader and set better example for the generations around me young or old. My Father and stepfather showed me how to make things happen when it seem like nothing was happening and having faith in myself. The both showed me how to run my own business, to be a boss but they both passed away later. Rip Edward Mack and Gerald Boykin Love you both thanks for everything I will never give up. My mother Darryla Baxter has always been my support also and was not easy raising a kid in the 80s, love you mom you showed me to believe in me and not stress about nothing it will work out. I want to salute me for.
