We had the good fortune of connecting with Edie Wyse and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Edie, do you have a favorite quote or affirmation?
Darle Duro, sin miedo.

My father says this to me all the time. It means go hard, without fear. My father is an enterpenuer. From poverty in Puerto Rico to years and years of trying new business’ in Orlando, Fl while also being the pastor of a church with 100+ members while having three children, one of the three having serious health conditions that required my parents to be in constant surveillance of him. I don’t know how they did it, but I look to both my father and mother for their tenacity and commitment to responsibility.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I found art in my junior year of high school. If I hadn’t, I would be in the military. Because that seemed to be my only path forward, as I didn’t have anyone pushing me academically. My parents were wonderful but had so much to do that school wasn’t a priority for anyone. Luckily I found my passion. I didn’t know what theatre was until I saw it for the first time on stage. I was blown away and never looked back. The shy, unassuming Puerto Rican kid suddenly singing and dancing as Wilbur Turnblad in Hairspray. My life took a drastic turn to say the least. 4-5 years of community theatre in Orlando turns into being a Finalist at the prestigous Actors Studio in NYC. Now I’m pursuing a career as a rapper/singer while honing my acting talents in the bakground to better serve as a director in my later years. I have a plan but we’ll see how it goes.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m taking them to any shows happening in NYC put on by local artists. Those are the best places to be if you want to find genuine, hard working young humans doing what we do best, Creating. I love this city and with the amount of things to do you could almost never go wrong. Domino Park, Devocion (my favorite coffee shop), The Bedford to have the best burger in town and lastly catching a Project Feel event. Life couldn’t be better.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Project Feel is a group of talented individuals that push me every single day to be better than I am. I’d like to specifically shout out two members of this team. Christine Arquero and Anthony Alvarez for being the reasons why I continue to do what I do. They push me everyday to achieve and overcome.
