Meet Edgar Garay | Founder and CEO | Falcomm

We had the good fortune of connecting with Edgar Garay and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Edgar, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I started Falcomm because I saw a big disconnect between what was possible in the lab and what was actually being used in the real world. During my PhD, I worked on a new technology that made wireless chips dramatically more energy-efficient. I realized this could have a huge impact—helping satellites last longer in space, reducing power consumption in telecom networks, and improving critical systems in defense. Rather than let the innovation sit on a shelf, I decided to build a company to bring it to life and solve real-world problems.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Falcomm makes super-efficient microchips that power the tech behind everything from satellites to 5G towers to advanced defense systems. What makes us different? Our chips use way less energy while still delivering top-tier performance—solving one of the biggest problems in a $100B industry: how to keep our world connected without overheating or draining power.
Getting here has been a wild ride. Nothing about building a startup is easy—we’ve hit roadblocks, made mistakes, and had to learn fast. But with a mission we believe in and an incredible team behind it, we’ve kept moving forward. One thing I’ve learned? Grit and vision beat perfection every time.
At the end of the day, Falcomm is about building technology that matters. We’re not chasing trends—we’re creating the future of connectivity, and we’re just getting started.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend was visiting Atlanta for a week, I’d make sure they had the ultimate mix of great food, cool vibes, and hidden gems—basically, the full ATL experience. Here’s how we’d do it:
Day 1: Arrival + Seafood Heaven
We’d start with dinner at The Optimist—easily one of the best seafood spots in the city—followed by cocktails at Himitsu, the ultra-exclusive speakeasy tucked behind Umi. It’s moody, stylish, and the drinks are next level.
Day 2: Beltline & Breezy Vibes
We’d hit the Atlanta Beltline in the morning and grab lunch at Ponce City Market (Tonkotsu ramen or H&F burger, depending on the mood). In the evening, we’d do dinner at Forza Storico—amazing Roman-style pasta and wine—and walk it off around Westside Provisions District. Maybe end the night with a drink at Drawbar at the Bellyard Hotel.
Day 3: Art + Lazy Betty Magic
Start the day at the High Museum of Art, then visit the Civil and Human Rights Museum nearby. For dinner, we’d go all in with a tasting menu at Lazy Betty—it’s creative, intimate, and the kind of meal you remember for years.
Day 4: Nature Escape + Neighborhood Favorites
We’d take a break from the city with a morning hike at Stone Mountain or head out to Amicalola Falls. Afterward, hit up Fox Bros. BBQ for that classic Atlanta smoke. Keep the night low-key with cocktails at Ticonderoga Club or Kimball House (both great vibes, very Atlanta).
Day 5: Little Five Points + East Atlanta
Wander through Little Five Points for thrift stores and vintage vinyl, grab a burger at The Vortex, then cruise into East Atlanta Village for dive bars, live music, and a little chaos in the best way.
Day 6: Sushi + Skyline
We’d do lunch at Muchacho or Victory Sandwich Bar, then wind things down with dinner at Umi—Atlanta’s go-to for upscale sushi. Nightcap? Back to Himitsu, because one visit isn’t enough.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Absolutely—this journey wouldn’t be possible without the support of some incredible people. First and foremost, my family. Their love, patience, and encouragement gave me the foundation to take big risks and stay grounded through it all. I’m also deeply grateful to the business mentors who believed in me early on and offered guidance when it mattered most. And of course, our investors—who not only backed Falcomm financially, but also shared our vision and gave us the confidence to think big. This has never been a solo effort, and I’m truly thankful for everyone who’s been part of the journey.
