We had the good fortune of connecting with Edaly Diaz-Tun and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Edaly, what’s something about your industry that outsiders are probably unaware of?
The dedication and consistency it takes in the beginning when starting up your business and still today. Many things seem easier than they actually are. Lashing is definitely one of them. It takes time and patience. It is an art that cannot be rushed and takes skill.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
As a lash artist, what sets me apart from other people in this industry is I take my time with each client, making them feel welcome in my atmosphere and comfortable. I always try to treat my clients how I would like to be treated when receiving a service. I listen to my clients and always take any feedback they give me. What makes me so proud is I get a lot of clients who have good things to say about me and I always get new clients who are referred from someone else. My clients are what keeps my business busy and growing! I am a licensed esthetician, but I am also self-taught in lash extensions. It was not easy, especially in the beginning. Lashing requires a lot of patience and practice to fully get to where you want to be. There are always new trends in the lash industry and so many styles you can do, which makes lashing fun and creative. Some lessons I learned along the way are: consistency always pays off, practice makes perfect, never give up, and you will have your slow days and also your booked and busy days. Through it all, the most important advice is to never give up. Those harder days are what’s gonna push you to work harder towards your goals and make you a better person.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love trying out new places to eat and have fun at, although I do live in a small city there are quite a few places around the area that are nice to visit as well. We would start off having brunch at the Little Diner on the 1st, take a walk along the Greenway or Fletcher Park. After a long walk, we would stop and get brown sugar boba drinks at Tiger Tea. After grabbing our drinks we would head to downtown Cleveland and visit all the cute and interesting stores. After a while of some good shopping we would end that day by eating at the local Naan House which is the only Indian restaurant in Cleveland! Let me tell you if you haven’t tried Indian food, definitely try the Chicken Tikki Masala! The next day we would go to Chattanooga, which is about 30 minutes from Cleveland. We would stop and get brunch at First Watch. After having some good food we would then stop by the Hamilton Place Mall and spend a good amount of time seeing all the shops they have. From there we would head to the beautiful Tennessee Aquarium. Next, after seeing all the wonderful animals and creatures we would stop by the Ice Cream show to grab a cold ice cream before walking the Walnut Street Bridge. This bridge overlooks the Coolidge Park, Tennessee Aquarium, and the Riverfront. It has such amazing views! After a long day we would finally head to have dinner at Scotties on the River to have some excellent seafood and relax while seeing some stunning river views.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I was very fortunate to have someone in my life that was also in the beauty field before I started on my lash journey. Although she did more of the cosmetology side (nails). My cousin Sulma is a nail technician. She always encouraged me since the beginning and taught me to never give up. I always looked up to her since she was a year older than me and seeing her embark on her business journey by herself really inspired me. She is great at what she does and is very artistic and detailed in her work. I also want to give some recognition to all my clients, they are very much appreciated!
