We had the good fortune of connecting with Echoes of Everything and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Echoes of Everything, what are you inspired by?
We – the two founding members of this band – were both young teenagers when the early 00s pop-punk and emo scene blew up and started to receive label backing and radio play. The longevity and/or resurgence of some of those bands (and if they’re not actively together, the resurgence of their music) is what gave us the push to really go all-in on starting this project, but how hard most of those bands had to work to get that industry foothold is what really inspires us. A lot of people who love pop-punk and emo forget that their favorite “feel-good-hit-of-the-summer” was probably originally recorded on a tape recorder (a TASCAM, if someone in the band had a little extra money).
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
We are a relatively new musical project; a band that Sylvia started when she felt that it would be impossible to successfully break away from the expectations of her fans and industry professionals who had already become fond of her older material. While basically starting over has been challenging, it has also been incredibly freeing and has offered us a chance to engage with a new – and arguably more enthusiastic – audience. We filed the LLC for this band back in August of 2022 and did months of legwork in preparation for the rollout of our first single. Most people form a band and it just kind of shows up in the sphere of a million other bands. We wanted to take our time and make sure that, when we showed up, we were visible. We’ve had steady engagement with our first track, so it feels like taking the time to treat the introduction of our band like the opening of a brick and mortar business was a smart idea. We’re really excited to record a couple of follow up singles this summer!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Since two of us met in Birmingham, AL, we’d definitely go to Hero Doughnuts for breakfast and coffee at least twice. We’d grab a few classes at Highland Yoga and inevitably poke around Ponce City Market for a bit. We’d have to visit the High Museum and the Georgia Aquarium. We’d grab dinner at Bahel one night and Iberian Pig on a different evening. We’d cap a few evenings by catching a show at The Masquerade, 529, or Aisle 5 and/or grabbing drinks and sharing a few plates at Gaja.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Ben Cato, Charlie Pinkard, and Jeremy Nichols. They are Atlanta area musicians who operated a recording studio setup and helped us record our debut single. Their input was invaluable and their support continues to help us stay inspired.
