We had the good fortune of connecting with Ebony Overstreet and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ebony, any advice for those thinking about whether to keep going or to give up?
When I think about this question the only thing that comes to mind is, “You DON”T GIVE UP”. It reminds me of my youngest son when he was little. He would always say, ” I can’t do this or that. I would stop him immediately and tell him that can’t is not a word he will use daily. I encouraged him to believe that you can do whatever you put your mind to do , even if it takes you a little longer. What I have learned through my personal journey in business and in learning myself is that when you feel like giving up, you are truly on the verge of your breakthrough. I know it sounds so cliche’, but I am a walking testimony of what not giving up has done for me in my life. So I never speak to when to give up, I only push to keep going.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?

I am the proud owner of Bella Vida Day Spa & Salon located in Fayetteville GA. We specialize in helping individuals understand the importance of self care and how to correct skin and body imperfections in a healthy way. The journey to get here was not easy and I always say I kind of stumbled up on it. I started out by being a lash model for a friend. I was never a makeup type of girl, but then I was introduced to lash extensions and I fell in love. So much that I invested in training to do lash extensions. At the time I never imagined what it could grow into. I was hired to work in a popular lash shop in Atlanta and that’s when I realized the endless capabilities in the beauty business. Still working a full time job, I lashed part time. Many days I wanted to stop and give up. Days where I had no clients, and I just sat in this shop waiting for somebody to come in. There were a lot of those days, but there were also those days that I was seeing up to $1k in a day. I never gave up. I studied and learned from the shop owner who was a beast when it came to business. She sold products , did lashes, and trained others. Soon I was able to train under her, and she showed me how to train others. That was the beginning of my deep dive into the beauty industry. I trained over 300 people before I realized it was time to do more. I got my own salon suite and trained and lashed until I couldn’t see straight some nights. It was a lot. It was draining at times and I got burnt out really fast. I needed to pivot and find more ways to make money without leaving what I actually found that I loved to do. I took a break and got licensed in esthetics. This was the game changer. I came back and opened up Bella Vida Day Spa and I was stronger, educated, and smarter than before. I took time to learn about business, to learn about marketing, and to get some other skills under my belt. I think Covid showed us all that we can do anything we put our minds to. So many people had to learn how to do the things that we paid others to do. Those of us in the industry had to pivot to keep clients and business going. This led me to mobile services and mobile spa parties. What I have learned throughout this journey is that the only way that your business will fail is if you fail yourself. You can’t give up on anything that you were blessed by God to do. With faith, hard work, consistency, and people on your side that genuinely want to see you win; you will. I also learned to be patient and trust that what’s yours is yours and He will provide and lift you in His timing and not yours.

I am most proud of where I have come from and the fact that I have put myself in a position to help others along the way. I have loyal clients and most people that come in contact with me, will attest to my heart being bigger than what I can handle at times. I genuinely want to see others win, and because of this I continue to be blessed in my business and personal life. Now through mentoring and coaching, I am able to share my gifts to others and help them get to a place of success in their business without some of the hardships that I and many other beauty pros had to go through.

What I want the world to know about me is that I am just a girl who figured out how to get through the challenges of this life one day at a time with grace. Bella Vida Day Spa is here to stay and continue to grow. We are not just a business but we are a safe place for individuals to come and share their innermost thoughts, insecurities, and goals that they have for themselves in a safe and non judgement zone. I thrive off of seeing others succeed and grow, Through my business and as a person, I will always be the type of girl that will lift you up and find a way to bring you to the table!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
So if my bestie came into town we would definitely hit some of my favorites and some places I have been waiting to try. I absolutely love brunching at Hobnob in Atlantic Station. Their fried green tomatoes and steak and eggs are amazing. We would probably fill up on pineapple mimosas and then spend the rest of the afternoon shopping. We would definitely find time to hit City Winery for a show and some wine. A new favorite is Aye Tea Elle Elevated Tapas restaurant in College Park. We would probably go there for drinks and food, the vibe there is everything. Somewhere in the visit we would have to go check out Platinum Beauty Bar in Spa in Covington Ga. I have heard this place is amazing and has all you can ask for in a spa day including a private Chef. For nightlife we probably would find a low key bar to just have a few drinks, dance a little , and be home before 1AM. LOL. I don’t think I can keep my eyes open any later at this point in life. But honestly if not a nice bar we both would literally opt in to a good movie and some wine at home on the couch.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
This one is for my family. Mom, Dad, Husband, and children especially. They have watched me put countless hours and effort into bringing my visions and dreams to life. I have had to sacrifice a lot of missed family time for late night zoom coaching calls, traveling, all day events, and booked and busy client days. They all continue to support and encourage me, and mostly extend Grace to me during those times, I really be doing the most. I just want them to know and understand that my vision is BIG and they all are a part of this, and will forever be my push to keep going and I love them to infinity and beyond for loving me through all of my growing pains personally and as an entrepreneur.
