We had the good fortune of connecting with Ebony Magic and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ebony, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
I am originally born in Germany. I’ve lived in the Atlanta Metropolitan area since I was 5 years old. I grew up in Riverdale and Jonesboro and graduated from Mt. Zion High School. My family moved to Stockbridge my sophomore year of high school. Growing up in the south definitely shaped my charm and hospitality. I am a true southern belle, but very cultured and open to experiencing new places, people, and things. I believe coming from such a diverse city made me that way.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m a singer and a songwriter. I think what sets me apart from others is my genuine appreciation for all genres of music and the way I try to apply that to RnB specifically. The music industry is very hard to break into but even with the trials & tribulations, I believe that if you have a vision or goal that you can’t stop thinking about and you want it then never give up on it. I think the biggest lesson I had to learn was to get out of my own way and always be ready because you never know when an opportunity is going to present it self and when it does, jump on it. I want my music to be an experience! Whether it’s a feeling, place, or a person. I want my listeners to experience whatever it is every time they hear one of my songs.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would try give them the full Atlanta experience from from culture, food, to nightlife. Our first few stops would be the High Museum just because I feel like everyone should experience it at least once. Also. the Atlanta History Center and the Botanical Gardens. I’m a big fan of the Virginia Highlands area especially on a beautiful spring or summer day so we would definitely have brunch at Murphys and dinner at Fontaine’s Oyster House. For a relaxed night at a bar or to pregame we would go to Ormsbys for food, fun, and vibes. And of course a trip to Buckhead Village for shopping which I would probably end with a rooftop vibe of 9 Mile Station or High Note.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
It’s a couple people that I would like to shoutout. First, my mom and my friends for supporting me fully on this musical journey and encouraging me to never quit. I appreciate them for being at all of my shows and telling me when I’m being lazy. Neko, owner of New Wave Studios, is one of the engineers I work with. I would like to thank him for motivating me to step outside the box and stop playing it safe. Also, Max. owner of Castle Hill Studios, thank you for caring about your clients and thank you for creating an amazing studio with an even better vibe. Lastly, my assistants Danny and Ty, thank you for all your hard work and your willingness to help me take Ebony Magic to the next level.
