We had the good fortune of connecting with Ebony King and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ebony, every day, it’s about how much execution matters, but we think ideas matter as well. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
Realtor Ebony King™ manifested from the desire to see others live out their dream of obtaining a home. In 2006, I began my career in the real estate industry regulating agents and brokers. While working in this position, I realized how much money rental properties were making from their tenants and decided to no longer rent. I became a homeowner at 26-years-old and turned my story into my passion for helping others like me break through the generational curse of not creating a legacy for their family through homeownership. I’m on a mission to dispel credit myths and build generational wealth.

I’m best known for my work centered around making the home buying experience a seamless process. Many of my clients have big dreams but have no clue where to start when making one of the most considerable investments of their lives. Today, the Realtor Ebony King™’s brand serves the Metro Atlanta area with a diverse clientele and over 17 years of experience. I’m proudly working alongside some of the best Realtors, including my team Luxury Collective Group at COMPASS. Our Lux office, located in the prominent area of Buckhead, is dedicated to strengthening hope for homes and nurturing families. My partnership with Southeast Mortgage Group has allowed my mission to become a dream and reality. Realtor Ebony King™ will continue to forward that mission until families across the globe can build generational wealth through homeownership.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
The Realtor Ebony King™ serves the Metro Atlanta area with a diverse clientele and over 15 years of experience. What sets us apart is that our brand experience adds a personal touch to each client interaction. Our inspired service defines the Realtor Ebony King™ brand that strengthens hope for homes, nurtures families, and builds a community.

There is no such thing as a smooth road in entrepreneurship, especially when you’re building your brand from the ground up. One struggle that I remembered vividly was at the age of 40 when I lost my job! Before being displaced within my accounting career, I had big plans to celebrate my 40th with a bang at the beautiful Yancey House. I had no clue how I was going to make that happen. I took this setback as an opportunity to launch my full-time real estate business. I had to make it work! I purchased my LLC, got two sponsors, and had a business launch/birthday bash event. I pitched the idea of inviting past real estate clients, family, and friends to a potential sponsor; he liked it so much that he doubled the sponsorship. During this event, we celebrated another year of life and the proclamation of The Realtor Ebony King™. After only two years of taking on the industry full time, I was inducted into the Million Dollar Club of the Northeast Atlanta Metro Association Realtor Board. My problem-solving capabilities are one of the many traits my clients love.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m not Georgia, raised and born; however, I’ve experienced so much of what Georgia has to offer after living here for over 30 years. Some of the most exciting places refuel my energy and lift my vibrations whenever I need some self-care. My “best time ever” itinerary would look a little something like this…

My best friend and I would start the week by enjoying time at Stone Mountain Park, “Georgia’s most visited attraction.” It’s truly a breath of fresh air. My friends and I would check out some client showings and explore metro Atlanta’s beautiful architecture and homes. The nights would consist of us exploring the best spots to eat. We would end the week with some self-care at Jeju Sauna Spa. The environment there is so relaxing and refreshing. At Jeju Spa, we always create memorable experiences. During the weekend, we would hit up Suite Food Lounge for some good eats and live music. I also love listening to live music at City Winery, a restaurant and wine bar in the vibrant Ponce City Market.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Linda Taylor King, my mother, has genuinely given me all the support, love, mentorship, and influence that I could ever imagine. Continuing the King legacy has been a passion of mine since starting this journey into real estate. My mother showed so much effort in supporting my vision that she became Realtor Ebony King‘s self-appointed Brand Manager. My mother touched so many people! Whenever she interacted with anyone, she was selling my services. She was the true definition of support. Recently, we laid her to rest with a 3-day celebration of her beautiful life. So many people came out to wish my mother well. It was amazing! I’m forever grateful she carried me in her womb, and we are of the same flesh. I know her spirit will live in me forever. This shoutout is dedicated to her.

A Tribute to My Mother

Dear Mom,

You are the kind of mother every child dreams of having. Your love has no bounds. Your endless support, and epic words of wisdom, have guided me from childhood through adulthood. The woman I am today is because of your guidance. You have been the best role model anyone could ever have. I never thought I would see my life without you in it, but I know that God extended your life many times over so that you and I could share memorable experiences filled with love and laughter, as well as life challenges you helped me to overcome.

I’m grateful you got a chance to officially be hired by my company and me as my Brand Manager. You’ve been helping me manage my brand and business for quite some time. You are genuinely excited for each client and the beautiful homes that we could assist. You will forever be a part of my team and me. I will honor you always.

Mom, I miss your beautiful smile, your hugs and kisses, your yells from your bedroom saying, “Ebby, I need you,” but most importantly, hearing you say, “I love you.” You once told me I was like two daughters in one. I hoped I could have you forever, but I felt our time was nearing the end of this earthly realm, so I tried my best to give you all of your flowers while you were here on earth with me. I have a sense of pride knowing how much you gave to the community and me. We all will miss you.

You’ve well equipped me for life’s journey, and I am at peace knowing that you now love me from your heavenly home, joined by daddy and my sister Sherri. I know that no matter how far my life journey takes me, I will have my heavenly angels watching over and protecting me every step of the way. I will always love you. Thank you for the greatest gift I’ll ever receive… YOU!

All My Love,

Your Baby Girl Ebony
