We had the good fortune of connecting with Ebony Jayda and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ebony, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
The birth of my business arouse from being in a comfortable space in my daily living. The monotonous work like, with the occasional vacation, luncheons, and weekend adventures became lackluster and I felt like there was a void in my life. While preparing for an event, I went around to various malls and a few boutiques, and couldn’t find anything flattering for a full figured woman. While shopping in some of the more posh stores, I experienced a “Pretty Woman” moment, where the store clerks were rude to me because they knew I couldn’t fit any of the clothing. Although I didn’t have a BBL type of figure. It was almost like I was being punished for being a plus-sized women. This is when I decided that I needed to create a space where full-figured, voluptous women could shop for trendy and sexy attire. I then decided to used $1,000 from my savings account to purchase my first set of clothing and accessories. In an instance, many of my friends and followers were drawn to the chic and sexy attire at my new boutique, affectionately named, “Your Fave BBW Boutique, LLC”. Since then, optimizing my client’s experience and promoting body positivity for all shapes and sizes has been my company’s mission. Through this, I have gained personal satisfaction, as well as a path to more business ventures and future sucess!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My career started as a Project Engineer in the construction field. The initial goal was primarily to become a Project Manager and manage million dollar projects. However, that became mundane and I realized I did not want to spend my life working for a corporation and decided to invest in myself. That was the best decision I could’ve made and it provided the pivot in lifestyle that I needed. After starting my boutique, I quickly ramped up sales within the first few months, with customer’s being most impressed by the stylish options available to the quintessential “sexy BBW”. As the demand at the boutique increased, I knew that I coudn’t sustain the business along with working a 50 hour work week. I then began working on my plan to work for myself, so I started studying real estate. This is an ongoing venture, but after successful completion, this new season will usher in a new avenue as a real estate professional. Although my journey to success is still unwritten, I am laying the foundation needed and enjoying every minute of this exhilirating ride to the top.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
One of my favorite spots in Atlanta by far is the Toast on Lenox. The food, the ambience, and the service is always amazing. One thing that I’m very impressed about is that this is a black-owned establishment and you receive 5-star service from start to finish. It’s definitely an ideal place to grab brunch with the girls and enjoy a nice salmon and mojito!

I would like to dedicate this Shoutout to my brothers, family & friends, and most importantly my customers and clients who have supported me throught this journey to attain success in the field of fashion and real estate. I truly feel like I’m one of God’s Favorite. May we all continue to grow and build together!
