We had the good fortune of connecting with Eboni W. and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Eboni, have you ever found yourself in a spot where you had to decide whether to give up or keep going? How did you make the choice?
I’ve answered this question and have been asked this question at least once per day since the COVID-19 situation hit the United States, and honestly, the best way I could answer it is in the form of a set of questions. – Is there a need for your business or service? – Are your counterparts or competitors still operating and succeeding in business? – What are your true reasons for contemplating giving up on your dream? After reflecting and answering, those questions honestly, only then can you answer if you should give up or keep going. Personally, for me, I recognize this current set of circumstances are temporary. I choose to find positives daily to pivot any negative thinking I may have and I push forward. When you truly believe in your dream, your goal, have an emotionally strong WHY and Purpose, “giving up”, ” surrender”, or “retreat” aren’t words that should be in your vocabulary
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My name is Eboni W and I am a business developer for lifestyle and wellness brands. After 7 years of personal training as a side hustle, while accumulating 12 years of brand marketing experience, I jumped into my wellness coaching business full time and quickly expanded my brand using and developing connections in the corporate world. After scaling my business using social media and community grassroots programs, I developed a system to help other entrepreneurs take back their health while developing and building their businesses and dreams too. The journey has not been easy in the least bit, mainly because I stood in my own way. I couldn’t fathom leaving my security net of corporate and I didn’t believe my knowledge was enough to move mountains, but I knew i had to at least try! A lesson I have learned along the way is F.E.A.R. has two meanings and can either cripple us if we let it or it can empower us to keep going. F.E.A.R stands for either Face Everything And Run or Forget Everything And Retreat. The choice is yours!
Any great local spots you’d like to shoutout?
If taking my best friend around the town of Atlanta, I’d start with taking her to STK Atlanta. We’d purchase a city pass and check out all the major monuments and buildings throughout Atlanta such as World of Coke, Aquarium, Civil Rights Center, MLK blvd, and the MOMA. The best thing about Atlanta is that we can go grab some bomb chicken off of Candler road or hit the shopping plaza of Lenox. There is a little bit of culture and bougie for everyone!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Growing up my mother always dragged me with her to different conferences to listen to different speakers. One morning she woke me up and told me to dress nice, we were seeing this activist by the name of Dick Gregory and that I needed to hurry. I was 10 or 11 at that time. I listened to this man speak, inspire, and empower the crowd with members of The Black Panther Party on either side of him. I do not remember much from the speech and the conversation however I do remember watching the impact he had over the crowd and knowledge he equipped the crowd with in order to successfully boycott the city and inspire change. Dick Gregory stated “poor is a state of mind you never grow out of, but being broke is just a temporary condition”. This quote has inspired me to work extremely hard, not just at bettering myself but with every step ahead to reach back and help someone or groups of people to elevate themselves past their stagnant mindsets. He inspired at a young age, to dig deep within my community and to continue his legacy of inspiring noticeable change.
