Meet Earl Dempsy Thomason Jr. | Writer & Producer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Earl Dempsy Thomason Jr. and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Earl Dempsy, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I pursued an artistic and creative career because it has always been my true passion and calling. Throughout my creative journey, I discovered that my ability to evoke emotion and provoke thought through words, whether in poetry or other artistic expressions, allowed me to connect with others on a deep level. This profound connection and the potential to make a positive impact on people’s lives through my art became the driving force behind my decision to dedicate myself to this path. Additionally, I saw the potential to use my creativity as a vehicle for social impact and advocacy, which further solidified my commitment to artistic expression and its transformative power.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My art is an amalgamation of poetry and creative productions, fueled by a mission to evoke emotion, foster positive transformation, and amplify diverse voices through captivating narratives. What sets me apart from others is my unwavering commitment to using creativity as a tool for social impact and advocacy, as seen in my work with “Prose & Poetry” under Dempsy Productions and my collaboration with “Gucci Changemakers.”
I take immense pride in the depth and resonance my works possess, touching the hearts and minds of all who encounter them. I am excited about the endless possibilities to push the boundaries of creativity and champion meaningful dialogue through my platform.
My professional journey has been anything but easy, but it has been deeply rewarding. I faced numerous challenges, including self-doubt and navigating the balance between artistic expression and social impact. However, I overcame these hurdles by staying true to my vision and being resilient in the face of obstacles. Surrounding myself with a supportive community and continuously seeking inspiration from diverse sources were instrumental in my growth.
The lessons I’ve learned along the way are invaluable. I learned the importance of authenticity and remaining true to my artistic voice, even in the face of trends or external pressures. I discovered that creativity can be a powerful force for positive change and a catalyst for transformative conversations.
I want the world to know that my brand is defined by passion, empathy, and dedication to making a difference through art. My story is one of continuous growth, amplifying voices, and fostering change within the creative community and beyond. With Dempsy Productions as my canvas and “Prose & Poetry” as my medium, I am dedicated to leaving a lasting impact, inspiring others to embark on their own journeys of self-discovery, and championing meaningful dialogue in pursuit of a better world.![]()

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Here’s an itinerary of a few things I would do with my best friend if we had a week of plans in NYC:
I would start the trip with a day catching up over drinks, and lunch at “Dumbo House” in Brooklyn. We would head over to “Harriet’s Lounge” to have dinner that evening.
At some point we would walk “The Highline” over to Hudson Yards and do some shopping. Have dinner at “The Peak” while we’re there then walk across the hall to “The Edge” to take in views of the city.
With any luck, we would check out any events hosted by some of my favorite event producers like “Everyday People,” “Poetry Me Please,” and “The Creative NYC.”
If there are any good performances coming up, we would catch a concert at Madison Square Garden.
If it’s still available, we would also check out the “Book of Hov” Exhibit at Brooklyn Library.
Depending on how my friend is feeling, I’d also do something with a little more thrill like a helicopter tour or hang off the side of skyscraper at “The Edge.”
In the midst of all of that I would make sure that we spend a day relaxing, keeping it simple, and another day, toward the end of the week, reflecting.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would be remiss if I didn’t express my heartfelt appreciation to my alma mater, SUNY Old Westbury. The institution provided me with an invaluable platform to refine my skills, delve into diverse creative mediums, and gain invaluable production and performance experience.
Moreover, I cannot overlook the immense impact “The Soze Agency” had on my personal and professional growth. Before embarking on my entrepreneurial journey, I had the privilege of being a partner at the agency. It was here that I discovered the true power of art as a means for social impact. My time at Soze not only nurtured my work ethic and confidence but also cultivated my competence and creative maturity, all of which have contributed to shaping the creator I am today.
