We had the good fortune of connecting with E. Nikk Halliday and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi E. Nikk, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
DreamNLive, LLC originally started out as Dreamxland back in 2016, recently(in 2020) we decided to revamp the brand and name to match the aesthetic of our ideals.
The thought process behind starting this venture was believing that if a person Dreams BIG and Work Hard They can attain anything they put their minds to while living their daily lives. Which is currently our Slogan, “Dream BIG Work HARD”. We try to push for the idea for individuals to not forget their dream as this is demonstrated on a day to day basis of how some people give up on their dreams. Whether that be by doing a 9-5 and not having the time to follow thru on their dreams, finding a great source of income that completely uninspired individuals to lose the drive of following their dreams or even as little as not knowing where to start and what direction to go. It has so much reasons we came across in the past few years.
We simply want to remind individuals not to forget their dream but continue to live their life and we do this through the production of a variety of clothing while tip toeing on the fashion side.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Currently, I am a Project Engineer in Central Pennsylvania. I graduated from Penn State Harrisburg with my Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering and this is what I do to keep the monthly bills running steady as well as to fund my side businesses.
Outside of my day to day profession, I am very ambitious about my dreams. In addition to the clothing I Oversee, I also have a RollingPapers Business, You can find it at “www.dlrollups.com”. I consider this the sister brand to the clothing line. the “DL” here stands for DreamLand Rollups, and we basically sell Hemp Rolling Papers to anyone who smokes. Although it has been a daunting task to get this venture in the eyes of our audience due to its nature it is something I constantly aim to push for because the creative idea behind it is completely different from the physcial structure to the intention of the user. Visiting the website and watching the video will give you an idea of how we try to bring something different to the market.
I also create Music. Hip hop to be specific. I produce, write, mix and master my own music. In February of this year I releases my 5th musical project all under my label, “Dreamxland Records”.(Is it obvious yet that all ventures circumference following dreams?) I Believe one of the things that sets me apart is the combination that I don’t give up so easily and having a different Perspective on life. I’m motivated more when doubt is portrayed in my direction. I think other people get easily discouraged from set backs, lack of funding, not knowing where to start. For me, Its more How do I start? How I do get the funding? How do I prove them wrong? and This approach is something I believe strongly sets me apart from others.
I’m currently mostly proud about just being approved for my first business loan and extremely excited about the purchase of a new commercial equipment that will take the clothingline to the next level, scale us and completely disintegrate our competition that also have clothinglines for clout and not for the passion of it.
I believe I got where I am today by the help of my team mates that I mentioned earlier. Their input was critical to the growth of this venture. From a creative input, to a financial input and even logical input on my decision making process.
I want the world to know, Issa a dreamer from the islands, and I ain’t giving up until I’m recognized that every dream can become a reality whether its monetized or not.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I currently live in Pennsylvania, But I’m not quite fond of the things to do here. I would honestly take someone back home to the Virgin islands/St. Kitts and introduce them to the island life. I’m from the Islands so being back on the island makes me extremely happy because of the many things to do, such as go snorkeling, hiking, or just relaxing in clear waters on the beach. Some of these things is what I like consider fun, the downside is. I have so many friends back on the islands it is hard for me to focus, so I’m easily distracted when I’m back on the islands. But I would take anyone to the islands to have a great time!!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
