We had the good fortune of connecting with E Kapri and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi E, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I’ve always loved art. It started as a kid I would sketch clothes on models. Then in high school I picked up more skills like watercolor with landscape and I’m still learning more.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I love art I always have but I only started my business a year ago. I was at a crossroad in my life, and I prayed and asked God to give purpose or show me the path I was supposed to be on. I was seeing a lot of resin art on social media and I prayed and asked God if this is what he wanted for me to give me a sign because I can be a bit stubborn. I got 2 signs, so I decided to start my business. I actually got the name of my business Gia Arts from a crazy dream I had one night, the name from the dream just wouldn’t get out of my brain. I decided to look up the meaning of the name Gia which is derived from Giovanna meaning gracious gift from God. I said “OK Lord I hear Ya! ” And that was that Gia Arts was born. I started loving art as a child and carried it into adulthood. Owning a business is not easy it is not for the weak at all, it gets stressful, and money does not always come like you want. Stay focused, dedicated and consistent you will be seen. I keep going because it’s God’s gift to me and that’s something special, one of the reasons I want to be anonymous for the time being, God gets all the glory.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Me and my best friend love Mexican Town we go to this restaurant actually called Mexicantown Restaurant. the food is really good, and they have nice staff. Downtown Detroit it’s a place called They Say it’s a great vibe and great food and it’s a short walk to our River Walk.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Other than God my family and best friends of course they have been extremely supportive. My younger sister Kyla and my cousin Asia especially both owning businesses they have been amazing.
