We had the good fortune of connecting with E.A LaFlaire and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi E.A, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I chose to pursue being an artist because I felt that was the best way I could express myself without feeling judged. I was able to utilize my deepest sentiments & create something that people could feel connected to. I always enjoyed using my ways with words, as I wrote poems as a kid, then that kind’ve morphed into writing & recording music. In all, it’s an emotional outlet for me, almost therapeutic.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Musically, what I think sets me apart is my willingness to be the paradox. Ever since I can remember, I struggled to fit in, even during my grade school years, I could never fit in with any group, so I had no choice but to build on my individualism. That resorted to me embodying my outlier nature when it comes to my music. What I’m most excited about is seeing where my music takes me. I have so many visions for my artistry & it expands pass music, so my true goal is for this music to lead me to places & rooms that I honestly shouldn’t but should be in…if that makes sense. I want to change the game. Professionally, I got here by investing everything I got into my craft. I’ll spend my last on myself & that’s simple. The journey always has challenges, many ups & downs, losses but I wouldn’t want it any other way. I believe in myself so much & that’s literally the only way I’ve overcome the challenges. I’m learning lessons day by day but I think consistency has been the most valuable lesson I’ve learned thus far. I want the world to know that I’ll be one of the greatest to ever do it when it’s all said & done— not just musically, but all around because I won’t allow myself to be placed in a specific category or strictly in one lane, I want to expand & have my hands & say so in many fields.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Not going to lie, I’m not really a person that goes out but I love Ponce City Market & the belt line! Can never go wrong going down. On a nice day, it’s always a vibe. The food is always a go & it’s so many food spots in that area. Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to shoutout a brother of mines BIGGXL. That man always spoke light into my music & I always acknowledge what he says because he’s brilliant & knowledgeable when it comes to music.
