Meet Dylan Kirkley | Hairstylist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Dylan Kirkley and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dylan, why did you pursue a creative career?
When i was around 12 years old my older sister was diagnosed with leukemia. As she was doing her chemotherapy her hair started to fall out. She decided to shave her head and have a new start to her journey. She gave me the clippers and told me to shave it all off. This made me peruse my carrier as a hair stylist. Just the feeling of making someone feel better about themselves makes me feel great. I started doing my own hair and learning about hair theory when i graduated high-school. I always did my friends makeup and when my older sister got married i helped do her bridesmaids hair and makeup. In 2019 i dropped out of college and had no idea what to do as a career i reached out to my friends to figure out what i want to do. One of my friends suggested i peruse cosmetology since i love to do hair and makeup. Without my friends i would be working in a salon being the happiest I’ve ever been

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a master cosmetologist working at santé salon on paces. Im very proud of myself for learning and exploring the science and art of hair. Its been a challenge for me to build relationships with clientele since i am a new and young stylist but i am very passionate about my work and very eager to learn new things.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
First i would take my best friend to all of the attractions in atlanta. I would take them to the coke museum and the Georgia aquarium along with the sky-view ferris wheel to see all of the city. Next we would venture off to the battery to get a couple drink at punch bowl and see a braves game. Then take them to my top favorite restaurants and bars which are iron age; a Korean stake house, battle and brew; a video game bar, and my favorite bubble tea place sweet hut. Ill then take them to my home town; flowery branch, to meet my parents and go out onto lake lanier and also head over to margaritaville water park. We then would go to six flags and enjoy all the roller coasters and to wrap up the week we can venture down to Roswell and go to my all time favorite restaurant up on the roof.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Id like to shout out my family for supporting my decision on dropping out of college and starting cosmetology school. My boyfriend for constantly cheering me on and supporting me during the struggles With school during the pandemic . My best friend whom i met at the school and currently work with. Without these people supporting me i don’t think id be able to be a hairstylist
