We had the good fortune of connecting with Durell Prudhomme and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Durell, we’d love to hear more about your end-goal, professionally.
My end goal is simply to use my love of creativity to help people grow, develop, and enjoy moments of happiness. I want to be in a position in which I’m more purpose driven and free to create new opportunities for myself and others. To harness the power of being resilient no matter what life throws at us.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Vibe With Me Studios is a media group specializing in infotainment. Through my company, I’ve created a book called The Inner Child, multiple emerging media brands, a Karaoke Studio, and a lot of other ongoing creative projects – all with the goal of helping the community.
But some of the challenges I dealt with initially were financial hurdles and how to monetize my goals. I’ve always had grand ideas but it can be difficult to make those ideas profitable. And I overcame this by just being consistent and persistant. When you keep knocking on the door, eventually it opens.
I feel like one of the things I’m most proud of is moving to Georgia – getting away from familiarity and learning new things. One of the lessons I’ve learned is that life is short. You need to make your “one day” today.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
One of my best friends is big on health and wellness, so I’d take them to Botanical Gardens and enjoy the fresh air . We’d get some really good vegan food at Wadada ATL or to Tassili’s Raw Reality Cafe, both in the West End. And then end the day at The Shrine at the Black Madonna, a bookstore and cultural center that has a nice selection of unique books with historical facts that aren’t taught broadly. So many fall festivals and festivities surrounding metro Atlanta, we’d definitely go to Piedmont park and the high museum of arts. Nature walks, visit waterfall in Roswell and attempt to find the hidden bamboos forest in Sandy Springs. I’d take them to the belt line and maybe live music at the James Room as well.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to thank everyone who has contributed to my life. I’m thankful for everyone who I’ve engaged with because they all brought something to my journey and was helpful in getting me to where I am. I’d like to thank my parents, my siblings and extended family for the growth and development I received in the early stages. I truly believe the experiences I’ve been able to have has brought more perspective and an interesting vantage point.
