Meet Duane Jones | FATshon Icon , Wardrobe Stylist, and plus size model

We had the good fortune of connecting with Duane Jones and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Duane, what’s the most important lesson your business/career has taught you?
The most important lesson that my career taught me was that you can not lose faith in yourself. Some days are gonna be worst than others but you have to remember why you started the journey in the first place. Also, I’ve learned to stop comparing myself to others success and just concentrate on my own personal vision and goals.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
IM IN LOVE WITH FASHION! what sets me apart? Prayer , Faith, and Determination! I know I’m suppose to do something fashion , walk red carpets, and have my name in lights. The main reason I’m so into fashion is that I’m trying to create a lane/platform for plus size people who think that fashion and plus size don’t go together. We deserve to be in high end fashion shows, national campaigns , and on front on magazine covers ( ONE DAY I WILL BE). This is not a hobby or just another job … this is my passion! I find myself looking at fashion shows etc… for hours. Is there room for opportunities , yes! will I ever give up , HELL NO! that’s how I overcome the challenges because I want this so bad! I wanna be a FATshon Icon and creative director of a big fashion magazine so I can say I made it out of that small town.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Monday- Id def cook my best friend favorite dish and have his favorite wine waiting on him while welcoming him to the city Tuesday- We would probably go downtown to Sam & Gregs one the best pizza joints in Huntsville/Madison and while we are down there we would explore the park and downtown area Wednesday- Jamaican Food! Its oxtail Wednesday and wed hit up M&K on Jordan lane and order a big thing of oxtails and rice Thurday- we would probably go see a movie at the Madison square movie theater where the seats recline back Friday- head downtown to pints and pixels which is a bar that has old school arcade games and after that probably go ax throwing and after that play spades with friends and have a kickback Saturday- Heading to MIdcity which has Dave & Busters, Rock climbing , & top golf and after that head to THE DISH to grab some of the best chicken wings in the city of Huntsville , AL Sunday- SUNDAY FUNDAY! go to brunch at Another Broker Egg or Grille 29 in Providence and say our good byes

oh wow there are so many people Id like to shoutout! TO my family & friends I gotta give praise because they have believed in me even when I didn’t believe in myself. I HAVE A STRONG SUPPORT SYSTEM. ALSO, D’ann the first designer to give me a chance , Marquis Green R&B singer who gave me a chance to style his video, and so many more.
