We had the good fortune of connecting with Dr. Tyneisha Douglas and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dr. Tyneisha, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My thought process behind my starting my own business was being able to reach the people that I wanted to serve, doing it my own my way. I did not want to work for a 9-5 anymore. I did not want to work under someone else’s group practice. I was determined to have my own. Although, as a business owner I work way more hours than I ever have before, I take great pride in being able to bring my vision to life and serve without walls. I knew I wanted to start my own business when I kept hearing that I had this gift and that I needed to reach more people. It was just important for me to be accountable for my own dream.

What should our readers know about your business?
What I am most excited about is growing my business and reaching more people. Starting a business during the pandemic has been a bit challenging. I started my business July 2022 and it has grown extremely fast. What really sets me apart from others is that I really try to shape my client’s experiences as their own. I describe to them that they are in control of their own healing journey. I give them the example of they are in the driver’s seat and I am in the passenger seat acting as their GPS to guide them through their journey.

My main challenge surprisingly has been learning to adjust to being “the boss” and businesswoman of the brand and not just the clinician. I have always worked for someone else and now I am at the forefront of my business and I am creating the narrative for my own brand.

What I want the world to know about me is I am the concrete rose. I am the victor. I am the one that really made a dollar out of 15 cents. I have worked really hard to get to where I am. I am going to keep climbing and I am going to keep serving and helping others heal and know that they matter by planting seeds into people’s life that will make a life long impact.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
So I have a best friend named Whitley and we have been friends forever and ever! We think alike so I know that all of the places I would take her she would enjoy. I would probably start off by taking her to my favorite brunch spot, Nana’s Chicken& Waffles in Conyers. I would also take her to the Sundial Restaurant for dinner maybe to enjoy the view. Maybe visit some art museums. I would definitely take her to make favorite Mexican restaurant La Parillia (as you can tell I really enjoy eating). I would also take her to check out the parks here to just enjoy the scenery.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
So I would have to say that my aunt Okima King has supported me and my dreams since I was a young child. Even though I was her niece she was such a great mentor, role model, and mother figure in my life. Even when I did not think I could do something she always pushed me to think outside of the box and just go for it. If I start doubting myself she always shares the right kind of advice or wisdom I need to motivate me.

The other person that I would say was a tremendous influence in my life and helped me see my potential while believing in me was my previous supervisor Rashida Anderson. I still to this day do not believe I ever gave her the flowers that she deserves. She was such a wonderful mentor who significantly shaped my professional career.
