We had the good fortune of connecting with Dr. Telesa Hart and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dr. Telesa, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
When I first graduated from chiropractic school, I had no desire to go into private practice. I thought it would be stifling, and that it would tie me down in a way that I absolutely did not want to be anchored. However, I finally realized that working for someone else would never provide the salary that I deserve or desire, I am not in control of the population I choose to serve, and everyday I am working toward someone else’s dream.
I soon realized that owning my own business was not a chain, it was actually freedom. Now I have the freedom to serve who I have identified as my patient avatar and to prioritize my core values.

What should our readers know about your business?
I am the owner of Hart Body + Soul Chiropractic & Wellness in Lawrenceville, GA. In addition to chiropractic care, we have roots in integrative medicine and Ayurveda. We take pride in being a safe space. We are a safe space for LGBTQIA, We are a safe space for black, indigenous, and people of color, We are a safe space for plus size and varying body types. We are a safe space for our neurodivergent brothers and sisters.
We have been very intentional with every single aspect of our office, right down to the thumb tacks we chose.
Our goal is for every visit to be an experience, not just a doctor’s appointment.
We address the whole person, not just their chief complaints, and prioritize the heart brain body connection.
We are so excited to welcome the community to our official grand opening on October 6, 2024!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I absolutely love Atlanta!

Some of my favorite restaurants are Twisted Soul Cookhouse & Pours, Ruby Chow, Gaja Korean Bar, Frankie’s Steakhouse, and any Korean BBQ spot.

Ponce City Market is a favorite of mine just to walk around and explore.

The Atlanta Botanical garden is beautiful any time of year. Dale Chihuly is one of my favorite artists and the Atlanta Botanical Garden has some beautiful permanent Chihuly installations.

I am also a poet and actor, so I love to vibe to live music and poetry at Apache Cafe.

Lastly, I can make an entire day out of a trip to IKEA.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I am blessed to have a tribe of people behind me who love, support, believe in, and show up for me. I do not take that lightly. I wish I could name them all, but this shout out goes to my wife, Samantha Hart. Sam has been my biggest fan, my largest investor, my business partner, my builder, my peace, my respite, my absolute everything. She has supported me on this journey, since I made the hard decision to pivot in my career.
