We had the good fortune of connecting with Dr. Rhonika Thomas and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dr. Rhonika, do you have any habits that you feel contribute to your effectiveness?
I believe having an unstoppable mindset has helped me be successful. I learned to be consistent, intentional, and driven to achieving each goal I set for myself. I set healthy boundaries both business and personally that protect my peace mentally and help me grow towards the woman I strive to become. I start each day with a positive attitude and with gratitude to the man up above.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My company is called Blacks in Nonprofits. I started it during the pandemic and it just took off from there. As a nonprofit consultant I noticed that my clients needed help after they received their 501c3 status so I created a mentorship program. After doing that for a few years I noticed that African American nonprofit founders were at a disadvantage and were not receiving access to the same resources as other founders. I wanted to create a safe space for them to come together and review resources, tips, tools, and a community of their peers they can network with. Blacks in Nonprofits was created from a place of need and quickly became the largest platform for black led nonprofits all over the world. We are over 27,000 strong in our second year and growing. Our motto in BIN is we respect each other, we walk in integrity, and we operate in love.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
When in Atlanta I would most definitely checkout the Martin Luther King Jr National Historic Site, the aquarium, the medieval times dinner show, the Sun Dial Restaurant on the top of the Westin hotel has beautiful views, another great one is Ponce City Market.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to dedicate this shoutout to my sister Anna , who recently passed away to stage 4 breast cancer in June. She was and will always be a big motivational factor in my life. She was my biggest supporter and encourager and will be missed.
