We had the good fortune of connecting with Dr. Regina Beard and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dr. Regina, how does your business help the community?
Victory 4 Kidz consistently supports disenfranchised youth with resources, tools, and opportunities to pursue a career field in the nursing and healthcare industry.
The U.S Bureau of Labor Statistics states, “Overall employment in healthcare occupations is projected to grow 13 percent from 2021 to 2031. By fostering relationships with colleges, sponsors/donors, VicTory 4 Kidz is able to invest directly in the youth by helping send High School Seniors with healthcare pursuits to college!
Not only do we fundraise to see our youth college dreams manifest, but we host a mirid of summer camps, youth healthcare exploration days where we bring in vetted Healthcare leaders to inspire and educate our youth about the possibilities. One of our most recent hosted events garnered more than 1200 registered students around the Indiana/Chicagoland area. We were blessed to have big brand supporters and sponsorships such as: McDonalds, Chick-Fil-A, Valparaiso University, University of Saint Frances, and Legacy Foundation.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
VicTory 4 Kidz was founded on the fundamental belief that all children are destined for greatness if given the opportunity, the right resources, and a chance to explore the possibilities. With the foundation of faith and the support of my dedicated team, VicTory 4 Kidz has been fortunate to spark career exploration in the healthcare field while fostering high self-esteem, sense of purpose, and a hope for a better future for our inner-city youth! How did I get here? A whole-lotta faith, hard-work, and collaboration with key community leaders. By no means has it been easy but with consistency, my team is proud to have serviced thousands of children. We host a variety of events, summer camps, scholarship fundraisers for high school seniors and provide vital tools for school-aged children to win.
The critical lesson that I have learned is to leverage effective marketing strategies and pr to bring greater awareness to our efforts. When you first start out in any business, you have a vision and a goal but not necessarily all the puzzle pieces.
I am grateful for the impact that my team and I have been able to create and now that we do have marketing/pr included in our outreach strategy, we are making a greater impact and reaching more outlets for sponsorship/donor support.
The Power of collaboration is everything.
Through our efforts, I want aspiring entrepreneurs and nonprofit leaders to recognize that their ideas, vision, and dreams are possible! It’s not about the destination but the journey and process.
Before VicTory 4 Kidz came to pass, I first established VicTory Training. The name was inspired by the Holy Ghost. (I am a Woman of great Faith.)
Originally, my team didn’t know what we were going to house under the name, however, we knew that it would be Healthcare related. Soon after, we started VicTory Training in 2014.
I remember back then, I needed to pay for my children’s private school tuition, so I decided to start consulting for their elementary school to generate additional cashflow.
As a registered nurse (now with my Doctorate,) I knew that I could be a valid resource to help schools educate children on the various career paths in the healthcare field.
While in pursuit of expanding the business and shortly after launching, I discovered that my father was diagnosed with brain cancer. This required me to come back home to take care of my father. Although stretched and even during this time of care for my father, I still had a burning desire to give back to our community in a big way.
So, my team started offering nursing aide training for under $400.00 per class. This allowed us to give back to the community while earning a profit to further our overarching initiatives.
Through the power of collaboration, we were able to host our very first class in the lobby of Jackson Hewitt during their off seasons. My tax lady allowed us to use her office.
From there, we continued to grow, expand, and gain momentum.
Through hardships and an uncomfortable season, great things begin to transpire.
There is power in collaboration and there is also power when we stretch ourselves.
I am grateful to have done both!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
First things first, Sunday we would attend The PowerHouse Church located on 944 E 103rd in Chicago, IL (Archbishop William Hudson III) 10am service. Next, we would head to Brunch at The Lighthouse Restaurant in Cedar Lake. Sunday evening, we would drive to Lake Geneva, Wisconsin and stay at the Grand Geneva, Wisconsin until Wednesday. While in Grand Geneva we would go and get a massage, see the dancing horses show, shop and eat at the local restaurants. Upon arriving back, we would go to Jazzin at the Shedd Aquarium. Thursday we would go to Giordano’s in Evergreen, IL for a Chicago style pizza. Friday- we would head over to Fair Oak Farms-49er Drive In in Valpo. On Saturday we must go to Lashes and Moore in Merrillville for a facial- Then we would take the South Shore to Michigan Avenue for sightseeing, lunch at the Grand Lux and then shopping at the
Water Tower. I have it all planned out!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I am forever grateful for my team at VicTory 4 Kidz. Without their love, tireless dedication, and support, it would be very difficult to accomplish all the great work we are doing in the community! Additionally, I am so grateful for my community of corporate sponsors who have helped pave the way to hosting incredible healthcare centered events and opportunities for the youth. This includes: Legacy Foundation, Valparaiso University, and many more! Lastly, but not least, I would absolutely like to acknowledge my PR lady- Dr. Nakita Davis! We connected a little over a year ago and she has played an active role in helping bring brand awareness to my efforts and shine a big bright light on VicTory 4 Kidz through robust billboards, media exposure, podcast, and speaking platforms to help voice our mission around the globe.
