We had the good fortune of connecting with Dr. Quinita Morrow and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dr. Quinita, let’s talk legacy – what do you want yours to be?
Most of us want to be remembered for something, to be known as more than merely ordinary, to be seen as someone who made a difference. I want my legacy to be one in which my students own their learning and become the builders and architects of their dreams. I want my legacy to be known as the teacher who cared, who helped them learn, and who made a difference in their lives. If I had to pick one thing for people to remember about me it would be that I did my absolute best to pour into the lives of every student I taught daily. If I had to recall my legacy as an educator, it would be to bring a level of creativity and pedagogical knowledge to the educational profession and execute the same pedagogical expertise for all my current and prospective students.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I help high school students learn to use marketing strategies in the real world with a deep meaning of what marketing truly is in terms of networking, branding, and all other aspects of a business. My classes give students an idea of what entrepreneurship and marketing are and help students use the information that is given to apply it to their future. By doing so, I am constantly bringing in guest speakers to speak with my students on various aspects of marketing and entrepreneurship. Although some may think what I do is easy, however, it takes a lot of work to bring someone new into the classroom each day, each week. There is a lot of groundwork that goes into doing what I do, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. The time and effort that I put into bringing in guest speakers makes it all worthwhile when my students get to meet their role models, future employers, or favorite entrepreneurs.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I am a huge Atlanta Hawks Fan! If my best friend was visiting the area and I wanted to show her a great time, it would definitely be attending a Hawks Game! As a former college player, I love the game so sitting courtside would be the perfect outing…..or perhaps even in the suite where the food and drinks are bottomless. Before and after the game, there would be a meet and greet with the players. Being a co-caption and shaking hands with the referees and the caption of the opposing team would make it the perfect night. After the game, we’d go into the press conference to hear from the players and coaches.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to say that all of my success and where I am today is attributed to the love and support of my parents. At a young age, they instilled in me the importance of discipline and hard work. Although this journey has not been easy, I have been determined to make my parents proud. My parents are still my role models, however, currently, I would like to dedicate my success to my children, Isaiah, Grayson, and Taylor Rose. They are what keeps me going each day. They are what makes me a better human and I couldn’t be more proud to be their mom.
