We had the good fortune of connecting with Dr. Osiris Carter and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dr. Osiris, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
From a child, my parents always displayed an entrepreneurial spirit, and naturally it tended to rub off on us as kids. From a little one, I was always interested in buying tennis shoes, so all my efforts back then were geared towards that ultimate goal! There was always some ultimate goal to earning money; be it washing cars, helping old ladies with groceries to their cars, and/or cutting grass. That sparked a desire as I got older to make helping people the ultimate goal. Now….helping people can be achieved in many ways. I’ve owned restaurants, investment clubs, and companies geared towards education about personal safety. But the root, the ultimate goal has always lead my thought paradigm.
What should our readers know about your business?
My business is multi-faceted where we aim at creating custom training packages and providing consulting services aimed at developing solutions for our clients. We span several industries and have a wealth of experience in public service. There are several opportunities on the horizon that will allow us to partner with not only companies poised for growth but regional Colleges and Universities. I’ve been working (and am still working HARD) at this for over 10 years, and I still have a ways to go!! The biggest lesson is to persevere. The bonus lesson is to always think about branding.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Well what I would say is if it was this time of year, the first thing we’d do is to go to a Hawks game. As an Atlanta native, that is a MUST! After the game, we’d hit Vortex in Little 5. During that week, we’d also go to the Falcons game. Again, this is a no-brainer this time of year! After that game, we’d go sit in the bar area at Little Alley Steakhouse and have some fried lobster bites! We’d also have to go to the Krog Street area. Lots of little dive bars and just cool places to hang out.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
This would have to go to two different people actually. My grandfather, Sam; and my father Linc. My grandfather taught me all about building. With him, I learned things across the spectrum….from rebuilding a carburetor to building an entire house! But these lessons all taught the same thing. Follow the process. That’s akin to building a business. My dad taught me several things but most importantly: family. A business is a family, cut and dry. And the way you treat your family (by either conscious actions or subconscious) will ultimately define your success.
