We had the good fortune of connecting with Dr Neha Khorana and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dr Neha, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Taking risks is such an important part of learning to trust yourself and building confidence. Most of us are risk-averse, myself included, but being able to step out and do something that scares you is also what makes it easier for us to take bigger risks in the future. We can be scared AND still do the thing that scares us!

What should our readers know about your business?
I wear many different hats in my professional life including therapist, evaluator, consultant, educator and supervisor. I absolutely LOVE being able to work different parts of my brain in each aspect of my job, which allows me to keep learning and trying new things.

I am a Board-Certified Clinical Psychologist with a telehealth practice providing evaluation/assessment and therapy services to residents across 38+ states. My passion is in doing therapy with high-achieving professional women who may be struggling in their romantic relationships, experiencing family conflicts, managing numerous cultural dynamics and/or dealing with the overwhelming stress that can develop through pregnancy and postpartum. As a child of immigrants myself, I have a deep understanding of the unique cultural, societal and familial pressures that women often experience and find such meaning in working with these clients.

I also specialize in psychological evaluations for ADHD, personality, disability, etc. and regularly consult with production companies behind-the-scenes to help mitigate risk throughout casting and production for unscripted television. As a reality TV junkie, this is truly such an exciting part of my job as no two days are ever the same and there’s always something new on the horizon!

Lastly, I am adjunct faculty in the Department of Psychiatry at Emory University School of Medicine and clinical faculty with the Psychiatry residency program at Piedmont Hospital in Macon, GA. My role as an educator and supervisor allows me to stay active in the field of psychology/psychiatry by continuously being a learner myself.

I can wholeheartedly say I never have a boring day!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We love having out-of-town visitors and showing them around all the different parts of Atlanta! Anytime a friend comes into town, we make sure to have them try the ribs and brisket from Fox Bros BBQ, drinks on the rooftop at Gypsy Kitchen and ice cream from Jeni’s. A special celebration will always involve dinner at Canoe with drinks by the river followed by a show at the Fox Theater. My favorite part of Atlanta is that there’s something for literally EVERYONE-there is so much to do, see and eat in our city. And if you somehow can’t find it in Atlanta, you can catch a direct flight to practically anywhere in the US and abroad!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I certainly would not be where I am today and achieved all that I have without my parents who immigrated to this country from India to give me a chance at opportunities they never had as well as my Husband who is my biggest cheerleader and encourages me to take risks. Lastly, I am eternally grateful to all of the brilliant, determined and compassionate women in my life who have supported me personally and professionally-my friends, colleagues, supervisors, and mentors.
