Meet Dr. Nadrat Nuhu | Licensed Clinical Psychologist (Wisteria Psychological and Behavioral Services)

We had the good fortune of connecting with Dr. Nadrat Nuhu and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dr. Nadrat, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Wisteria Psychological and Behavioral Services was born out of a deep commitment to making high-quality psychological care more accessible. We recognized a significant gap for in-home services, particularly for older children and individuals with challenging behavior. With years of experience, Dr. Nuhu saw firsthand the struggles families faced in finding specialized support for their children with neurodevelopmental disorders.
We knew there was a pressing need for a service that truly met families where they were—both physically and emotionally. Our goal was to create a practice that not only provided expert care but also ensured families did not have to navigate these challenges alone. At Wisteria Psychological Services, we are dedicated to increasing access to care and building a team of professionals who share our passion for helping others. Opening our doors in early 2024 was a natural step toward fulfilling this mission, and we continue to work every day to support the families who trust us with their care.

What should our readers know about your business?
Wisteria is committed to providing individualized care for our clients. We believe a crucial way in doing so is collaborating with the parents alongside using evidence-based treatment and the science of applied behavior analysis to find a treatment plan. By doing so, we provide individuals and their families with the support tools they need to see a reduction in challenging behaviors while evaluating the effectiveness of interventions. Starting with a comprehensive assessment in clinic, we then work to move services to the child’s natural environment in their home while training the parents to implement treatments components.

What is the most important factor behind your success / the success of your brand?
Our success comes from having a highly qualified, like-minded team members that share a passion for helping others. At Wisteria, we’ve built a team of dedicated professionals who are committed to providing expert care and making a real difference in the lives of the families we serve. When families first reach out to Wisteria they will speak with our practice manager, Hailey Bender. She guides parents through the insurance process and supports them as they begin receiving services. We offer multiple service lines including diagnostic evaluations, parent coaching, and individual therapy offered by Dr. Nicole Hendrix, the newest member of our team. Our team of board-certified behavior analysts and dedicated registered behavior technicians provide high quality behavior therapy to children with neurodevelopmental disabilities who need help with developing communication skills, potty training, or reductions in challenging behavior.
Work-Life Balance: How has your balance changed over time? How do you think about balance?
Balancing life as a wife, new mom, and business owner has been a journey of constant adjustment. Launching Wisteria Psychological and Behavioral Services while managing a full staff and running a private practice has required me to be intentional with my time and priorities. In the beginning, it was challenging to juggle everything, but I’ve learned that balance isn’t about doing it all at once—it’s about setting boundaries, delegating, and making time for what truly matters. While it’s still a work in progress, I’ve come to embrace the ebb and flow of work and family life, knowing that both are deeply fulfilling parts of who I am.
Do you have a favorite quote or affirmation? What does it mean to you / what do you like about it?
One of my favorite affirmations is, “You can do hard things.” This resonates deeply with me because it aligns with our approach at Wisteria Psychological and Behavioral Services. Through therapy, we do not aim to change who a person is but rather to provide the tools and support they need to navigate the world more comfortably even if it is difficult. Our goal is to foster independence, communication, and confidence while respecting and understanding each individual’s unique needs. True progress comes from acceptance, education, and compassionate care.

What do you want your legacy to be? What do you want people to remember about you?
I hope that my legacy can be one of impact, compassion, and accessibility in psychological services. I would love to be remembered as someone who saw a gap in care and worked to fill it—ensuring that every child, regardless of age or behavioral challenges, had access to the support they needed. Through Wisteria Psychological Services, I want to leave behind a culture of understanding, advocacy, and high-quality care that continues to help families for years to come.
