We had the good fortune of connecting with Dr. Joyce M. Gilliard, DPC and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dr. Joyce M., have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
My work life balance has changed from when I first started in my career, until now. I have learned through trial and error the importance of balancing your life, career and family time. The things that meant alot to me when I was younger starting out, had shifted as I became more seasoned in my career. I think about how I can hustle and strive to make things work, as well as finding time for myself at the end, instead of going from one project to another. I break it up.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am very proud to see how GOD has ordered my steps and brought me from living in the projects to owning my own homes and properties, from being a kitchen stylist, to department heading movies, from watching movies to producing movies, from reading books to writing them . It was never easy for me. I was a single mom with big dreams. I didn’t know that my dreams would be my reality. Back then, they seemed untouchable.
I was one who would take risks, and if it didn’t work out, I would try something new. I never gave up. I always pushed myself to be a better person. What you all see now is what has been years in the making, My success did not happen over night.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend came to Atlanta, we would definitely hit up Food places. We both are foodies. I like hanging out at the Battery and I like to try different spots in Atlanta for the food and drinks. I love Pasha restaurant. The food, drinks and vibe is everything.!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to dedicate my shoutout to my family, friends and supporters who believed in me , pushed me and never gave up on me. You know who you are!
