We had the good fortune of connecting with Dr. Jalaal A. Hayes and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dr. Hayes, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The concept of “fail early and fail fast” was the most important factor behind the success of my brand. I believe that the quicker you start, the further you will be to obtain success from your failures and the failures of others. Lessons are very important on the journey to building anything especially a brand for others to relate and connect with.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My business, Elyte Universal Network, is a STEM education content company focusing on making science education simple and accessible for underserved communities. We design tailored STEM curriculums and professional development for students and educators respectively that are culturally relevant and engaging. We are experiencing success with partnerships via STEM/ STEAM schools, districts, and nonprofits. The biggest lesson I learned from the business was to fail forward and fail fast in your entrepreneurial journey.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to my father who taught me how to navigate the world and never settle for less than my best. Without his mentorship, love, and encouragement (along with my mother), there will be no “Dr. JAH, the youngest applied chemist in America. In addition, I am thankful for the luminary Dr. Jesse Ernest Wilkin Jr., the genius that inspired my journey and the path that I am blazing today for the next generation.
