We had the good fortune of connecting with Dr. Faith Abraham and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dr. Faith, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Initially the goal was to make 6 figures a year $100,000 climbing the corporate ladder. In college I watched Girlfriends and Sex in the City; for me to live that lifestyle I felt I would need to make $100,000 a year. The problem was corporate America didn’t come through for me. I got mad and decided to take my life into my own hands and I started my coaching & counseling business to make impact AND income at the same time and of course to hit my 6 figure income goal!
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
When I started my business my goal was all about me achieving the goals I had set for myself. Of course I wanted to make an impact because that’s living a life of purpose and intention yet the income potential had to be there too. What started off as me looking out for turned into me looking out for others.
I was helping people transform their lives but realized the potential and the impact of helping people use their gift of coaching to establish their 6 figure businesses too. Now that’s primarily what I do; help others start their coaching business from scratch to 6 figures using with no ads, no team and no expertise needed.
It was hard juggling everything at home, in ministry and business but that’s the whole point! It’s all about the journey. the experiences within it, the process and the transformative personal growth that occurs. I would do it differently if I had to start all over again (using better strategies) but I would definitely do it again.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Fun for me always equals food and experiences! We would visit the Garden Room and enjoy the spa at the Regis in Midtown. Hit a couple of night spots like the new Linnethia for live music, Xperience for some fun and have brunch at the Blue Martini in Buckhead.
Depending on if there’s a Candytopia or carnival we’d go there for day time fun of course stroll around and shop in Alpharettas outdoor mall the Avalon. I’m Nigerian American, so we’d have to stop by some auntie and uncles houses and crash a Nigerian wedding because there’s always one happening!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Definitely! I don’t believe in “self made” successes. Someone’s example cleared the path for you to become a success. For me it was my mentor Stacia Pierce. She made me believe that becoming a female millionaire was possible. She’s married, has 2 successful beautiful children, works in ministry AND has a thriving coaching business! When I saw her I was like yes! If she can do it so can I.
