We had the good fortune of connecting with Dr. Brittny James and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dr. Brittny, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor behind the success of Project Chick Planner is brand authenticity. Anybody that knows me, knows that I am a huge investor in the educational, personal, and professional development of Black women. Our planner’s designs and playlists (yes, playlists!) align with each planner’s focus. For example, our first edition, The OG, is Ca$h Money/Big Tymer$ themed and has motivational quotes throughout the planner from some of their most popular songs, and a customized playlist of those songs – starting with Project Chick, of course. The most important features of the planners are that they’re undated and have a copyrighted, project-based layout that is perfect for busy people with multi-faceted lives.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What’s sets me apart from others is that I actually live and breathe my brand. I am an expert in project management and business development with terminal credentials in public health, business, and too many certifications to name. I got where I am professionally by being organized and always planning ahead, which lead me to developing the planner than thousands of customers now know and love. Juggling various projects (school, consulting, job, family) was never easy, but I’ve always been an exceptionally focused and headstrong individual – so anything I’ve ever said I was going to do, I did it. What I want the world to know about my brand is that it comes from a place of authenticity, accuracy, AND actual experience. I’m a known expert in my field and created the tool that helped (and still helps) me achieve my goals.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We’re doing all things Black-owned for sure! Dinner at Apt 4B, brunch at Jouvert Caribbean Kitchen, a famous “bricks” workout at E.F.F.E.C.T Fitness with a smoothie/snack from Spreading the Health afterwards, and meeting/co-working at The Gathering Spot. That’s what I love most about Atlanta – you can support Black business all the time. And there’s always a concert or SOMETHING going on, so there should be an opportunity to show them the hospitality of the Mercedes Benz Stadium, State Farm Arena, or the Battery.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Jauntel Taffe, Tiara Mayo, Zahi Pierce, and Alexis Eckler have been the real brains behind the brand. They manage and produce all of the amazing content that you’ve see on Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok since we got started back in December 2022. As a serial entrepreneur, they’ve turn all of my ideas into reality!
