We had the good fortune of connecting with Dr. Allana Da Graca and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dr. Allana, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
When I started my company Turning On the Lights Global Institute LLC., I knew that I wanted to give leaders and entrepreneurs the tools they needed to persist in their goal attainment. I spoke to so many women and leaders who told me how dissatisfied in life they were due to abandoned dreams. I felt it was my calling to use my expertise in communication, creative strategy, and social media to show individuals how to systemize their ideas. More importantly, many individuals struggle with the “Imposter Syndrome,” and leave so much on the table waiting for everything to be perfect before they get started. I wanted to provide a solution of motivation and strategy to leaders, and entrepreneurs.

What should our readers know about your business?
Turning On the Lights Global Institute is a company that offers authentic engagement, guidance, and strategy. Our company takes time to understand the needs of our constituents. When launching a new business it is important to understand the “BIG WHY.” Unlike many programs that give individuals templates to work from, we take time to identify the specific needs of our constituents. This has been invaluable because one solution may not work for all business models. More importantly, we have built a growing community of leaders, speakers, authors, coaches, practitioners, and more. This platform allows our leaders and business owners to take part in some of our signature conferences and events and helps them to elevate their network and online positioning. Developing this company was not easy. There were many times I wondered if I would be able to do this vision long term. I have learned to be grateful for every milestone! I have learned to take challenges one day at a time while fostering key relationships to develop as a stronger leader and coach. I have also learned the importance of asking for help. As entrepreneurs, it is easy to think we can do it all ourselves, but this leads to serious burnout. I want everyone to know that in the time of a pandemic we can still be innovative. As we #stayhome during #COVID19 we can also deep dive into those dreams we packed in the “SOMEDAY” box.

Turning On the Lights Global is using this time to help leaders and entrepreneurs pivot during the pandemic. We are here to help leaders around the world make new strides across industries.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love Stone Mountain. I would first have them meet me for an early morning hike at Stone Mountain. I would then head over to the King Center for some historical reflection. Then close to sunset I would head over to the Sun Dial Restaurant to take in the view of the city. What a beautiful city Atlanta is.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to shout out Manuel da Graca, Benjamin O Samuel of Webster Bank, Susie Carder (SC Consulting), Amos Todman (Don’t Snooze), the #IWBCC tribe, and countless organizations that have allowed me to use my creativity and passion to help individuals reach personal and professional goals. Their support has been invaluable in helping me to remain consistent in this journey. Entrepreneurs understand that building a business takes time and patience.

My senior business coach Manuel da Graca helped me to establish the vision and worked with me on the business development of Turning On the Lights Global Institute. Benjamin Samuel, and Amos Todman, contributed to the International Women Build Confidence Conference. Susie Carder, the Profit Coach has been a mentor, friend, and supporter from the beginning! I have learned from her Power to Profits program and can-do-it attitude that she demonstrates daily.

Most importantly, my clients and participants have been amazing as they are from all over the world. Lastly, I want to thank all of my mentors, and advocates who constantly share their excitement and support of TOLGI initiatives.

We would love for you to join our #IWBCC group for leaders and entrepreneurs!
