We had the good fortune of connecting with DopeByNature and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi DopeByNature, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
Well I pursued a creative career because I honestly felt that the talent I have always had was too great to not use it. I could always sing & write & like Many other great singers I started in the church at the early age of 7-8 singing in front of thousands of people. I started off writing poetry when I was in elementary honestly & that Just grew into writing songs as I got older. I wrote my first ever full song at the age of 17 and then found a producer who created a beat around the lyrics I wrote & from There I started writing a lot of hooks for my friends who rapped then I moved on to write more full songs to other beats that were provided either from producers or the internet & it Just grew from there. I am a pretty good singer but my true passion is writing because I can explain a story better through lyrics. Most times the stories I turn into songs aren’t always from my personal experiences but from others that I know and I turn it into something one can listen to & possibly learn from better or in a different way. But ultimately I chose to pursue a creative career because I honestly couldn’t see myself doing anything else that would bring me the happiness I get w/ writing

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Well what I would say sets me apart from others who write is the fact that I am an amazing “storyteller” I can take real life experiences & easily Turn then into a song that someone can listen to & understand in a different way.

I have gotten to where I am today through LOTS of hard work, failures, no’s & closed doors. But I have never given up I took the determination & belief I had in myself as motivation to keep going no matter how much I might have wanted to give up or stop & just do something “easier”.

I have learned quite a few lessons lol. But I would say a few of the biggest ones are, in this industry I have decided to be in there WILL be hard times & that Is something we cannot avoid but you must believe in yourself & never Really look to anyone else to believe in us because no one will have the same vision as you & some if not most at one point or another will doubt you. But no matter how much “they” might doubt you, you have to believe that you can make it happen no matter what the cost, & w/ that Mentality you will most definitely succeed.

I want the world to know that no matter what I remain Unapologetically Myself, no matter the influences around me or what this life might have in store for me I will always be true to myself & never Conform into what “others” think I should be because at the end of the day as long as I am happy w/ myself I will always be happy w/ what I do

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well California to me is a HUGE place FULL of things to do & explore. But if I had to be someone’s guide lol I would definitely take them to Universal Studios being that I LOVE roller coasters. I also LOVE the water & being Around it so The Beach would be a must. As far as food it would honestly all depend on the taste they have but I am a Huge Fan of seafood so definitely somewhere that would specialize in seafood. I’m not really a “go out” person so I don’t really do clubs or social places too much but a Boardwalk in Venice or San Francisco would be ideal. The culture in The Bay Area is unmatched & the Views as well. Humboldt County would be a nice trip, & although I don’t drink I love visiting wineries in Napa Valley. My personal favorite place is at Marina Bay Richmond I have a personal place over there that I love to go to & anyone I hold special to me or who have never been to The Bay I take them There to just look over the city & water, it is truly beautiful.

I would like to shoutout My Mom. Who has been my BIGGEST supporter through the years I have decided to follow this path
