We had the good fortune of connecting with Dontaye Young and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dontaye, any advice for those thinking about whether to keep going or to give up?
I say quit it if your heart isn’t in it. I’ve started and stopped so many things, but I never gave up on myself and my beliefs. Listen, I’m 30 and I am just now really finding my way in life. It isn’t easy! Most times, I gave up on something because I wasn’t satisfied internally. Other times, the results I expected didn’t come fast enough. We all have gifts, passions, and talents. You know, things that feed our soul. We just have to learn how to monetize them.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I hate to use the term “serial entrepreneur”, but I do have my hands in quite a few pots. My main focus is my insurance business, and I’m also working on my real estate license. Over the past few years I’ve been getting into crypto and forex. Making money from your phone and/or in your sleep is a different feeling than money that you get out and “work” for. I love my wife and kids, so I try to be there for them as much as possible. That has forced me to be flexible and innovative when it comes to generating income. My main goal has always been financial freedom. It’s definitely been a rocky road, but I’m finding my stride and things are starting to look up.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Whew, this is a tough one. Atlanta is such a vibrant city! I don’t go out much so here’s what I’d do: 1st stop: Bar hopping & hookah spots in Midtown
2nd: Mary Mac’s Tea Room
3rd: Hawks or Braves game
4th: Flying Biscuit
5th: Checking out houses in Milton for inspiration

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I definitely have to dedicate this shout out to my family and friends. I definitely appreciate my parents, Jermaine & Rodesha Johnson for all the sacrifices they made in order for my and my sister to have a fair shot at this thing we call life. I want you to know it has not been in vain. My family has always supported me in everything I’ve ever done. When I married my wife, Victoria Young, I gained another loving & supportive family. I want to thank you all for supporting us on all of our endeavors and always coming through for us no matter what. It’s amazing to see how the union of two people who met at the age of 13 can blossom into a series of loving relationships among people who would otherwise be strangers. Wait, can’t forget our wonderful friends! Along the way, we have met so many awesome people that think just like us. Shout out to y’all!
