We had the good fortune of connecting with Donna Anderson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Donna, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
Being a creative has planted my feet in rooms I never expected to walk in or meet other creatives with vision and purpose. In undergrad, I was involved in numerous projects and events that have helped mold me to where I am now. I’d like to think I stumbled in to this career because it came so naturally. From fashion shows, hair shows, and showcases; I’ve learned over the years that my place in life as a “healer would not only help others but would give me great satisfaction as well. Doing what I love is just a plus! Now in an expanded world of technology I can reach viewers with my content across the world. Even if they aren’t lucky enough to sit in my chair, they still get to enjoy and watch transformations and the smiles I put on my clients faces.

What should our readers know about your business?
I am a four year licensed hair stylist who continues to learn every day. Though I have not been in the game professionally very long, I started very early back in high school doing silkpress and perm rod sets! My proudest moment so far has to be my growth since being here in Atlanta. I came to this beautiful city during summer 2020 and haven’t looked back since. Like many I had no idea what was next considering we were in the middle of a pandemic. My business like most took a hit or a standstill when we were on lockdown. It has been a complete blessing nonetheless to have made it so far within the last year. I am excited to further education with other stylist and hire new stylist to start building an amazing team. My biggest challenge right now is not being able to service as many clients as I would like to but that can be a good thing as well! This is my second time around building my business from the ground up, so learning from past mistakes and even habits is truly up to me. Ive taken everything Ive learned over the last five years and implemented it into my business strategy. Timing is everything. The most important thing I want people to know about GLOW is that its truly a finishing touch to what’s already in you, Im here to simply help you shine more than you already do.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I am a sucker for good food and vibes, did I mention food? Rock Steady has become on of my favorites here in Atlanta, dinner with the girls or a date night in their upstairs lounge. Ponce City Market is always a great choice, Bar Vegan has an awesome atmosphere! I love a great festival or outdoor event. I just attended to RandB Picnic in Piedmont Park with a few HBCU friends, it definitely felt like homecoming.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Dorothy J. Short, always convinced me of my greatness, while I was in awe of hers. As an educator she beat many milestones and raised a family all while doing so. Her encouragement not only pushed me but she also never told me it wasn’t possible. My grandmother made it her mission to tell me to dream big and I will forever be grateful for that.
