We had the good fortune of connecting with Dominique “Dolly” Hagler and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dominique “Dolly”, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
The arts had always been a part of my life whether it be dancing, acting, modeling, or writing, I was doing it. I moved to Georgia in 2013, and at that time I started taking acting and modeling more seriously. After being in a few movies, I found that I was highly interested in writing my own short film, so I started writing Dating A’mari. As the years went on, I continued my focus on acting and modeling and stop writing altogether (outside of journaling) until 2019 after having my daughter. I had a traumatizing relationship which led to a massive breakup. The pain was unexplainable. I was now a single mother trying to understand motherhood, regain myself and trying to figure out life as it was. I realized that I had to heal not only for myself but for my daughter as well, the healing didn’t start there. January 2021, I lost my grandmother Evelyn to COVID and then came March 2021, I lost my grandfather the Marvelous Marvin Hagler. My favorite quote is from one of my favorite movies Forrest Gump, “Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you’re going to get’.

At this moment, it seemed like life was suffocating me and felt like I was completely losing it, so I went back to what I knew helped me through my life, writing. I went through some of my old boxes and rediscovered “Dating A’mari” that I had begun writing in 2013 and I started there. After dumping all my grief, sadness, pain, and memories from the last three years of my life in my notes, I had now completed a full script. After writing the last sentence of it, I knew my now angels were smiling down on me and proud. I felt an instant release from the shackles of hurt and pain that had been weighing me down and I was no longer my past. The healing was in full effect. Dating A”mari which is now on YouTube, is extremely comedic however, I walk my viewers through my healing process in almost every episode whether I am journaling or meditating , I am doing it. After releasing the first season of Dating A’Mari, I decided that I wanted to construct a healing journal for HER and I am proud to say it is now on Amazon titled “Healing HER’.

Healing is messy and dark but it’s a beautiful disaster, don’t stop. You are a diamond and without the pressure, you cannot be.

For those moments in which I was angry at GOD for allowing someone to break me to my lowest, for taking away 2 of the people that I loved the most, and for giving me child to raise by myself, I can see now and be thankful for what he was doing. I realize now that it was all preparation for this chapter and the coming chapters of my life.

Today I can proudly say I love every trial and tribulation I had to face because I not only have a testimony for yourself, but I am healing others to prepare them for their own. Who knew out of all of this would come HER healing classes which will be open to new healees on January 5, 2023, my own production company “Dolly Vision Entertainment”, a Webseries, and book? Look at God! Won’t he do it!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a writer but I am a healer. I use comedic techniques in writing to bring awareness to healing. I am known for my inspirational but blunt Word of The Day that I give to my viewers and listeners on a weekly bases and my healing classes that I offer. I am most proud of being able to see people evolve into this best versions of themselves and knowing I was a part of their journey. I dig DEEP, I take people to places that they haven’t been or know they could go and we heal those places. I get creative with my steps and assignments that I provide to my healees. I am passionate, genuine, and intentional in all that I do and for that, I can say that is what and will always set me aside from others, Nothing in life is easy and honesty feel like if this journey was easy I wouldn’t appreciate it as much as I do. To overcome the challenges I faced, I just keep pushing even when I felt like I just couldn’t make it or what I was doing wasn’t enough or important. I changed my mindset and kept pushing. I listened(still do) to a lot of motivational speakers like E.T. The biggest lesson I have learned is you have be confident and you must believe in you because if you don’t then why should others?

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love love love RA Sushi! By far one of my favorite places to eat when I’m in the city and the runner up is STK. We would definitely be visiting the High Museum of Art and Ponce City Market. Hitting Andretti’s is a MUST too! I’m originally from New Jersey so I still have a whole a lot of exploring to do in Atlanta.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
YES! My biggest shoutout goes to my daughter. She has transformed me in so many ways. My next big shoutout would have to go to family including the 2 that are no longer with us, They have supported me and believed in me during this journey and I am so appreciative to call them mine. They say save the best for last and I have to give a shoutout to GOD. Even when I didn’t understand what and why he was doing what he was doing, he always had me.
