We had the good fortune of connecting with Dominique Davis and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dominique, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
My work-life balance over time has evolved a lot according to God’s plan. I have been balancing my acting and modeling career, along with academics since I was 17 years old. Currently, I am balancing my modeling and acting career while attending Georgia State University. I believe my work-life balance has always worked for me because I pray and work hard. I just finished my junior year of college with a 3.7 GPA. I signed to East Coast Talent Agency this summer and recently appeared on the BET show “The Family Business”.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m still very excited about being signed to East Coast Talent Agency this summer. I had to recite a monolouge and submit it to East Coast Talent Agency (ECT), then the next day I got signed! I knew I had what it took to get signed to East Coast Talent agency, but of course there were some challenges I had to overcome. I had a lot of “no’s” from different talent agencies along the way, but that never discouraged me. To overcome the challenge of getting signed to a talent agency, I went back to my acting class, Premier Actors Network. Shoutout to Dwayne Boyd!! Dwayne has been my acting coach since I was 11 years old. I took the advice from Dwayne and applied it to my audition for ECT. Everybody around me would tell me “Dominique you got the talent and the look”, but I would always be in my head and lose confidence in myself. I continued to practice and the more I prayed about my confidence I saw a change in my performance. When it comes to acting and modeling, I have learned lessons along the way. I learned that you HAVE to put in the work, period! I can’t wait for opportunites to come to me, so I have to go out and work hard for them. I have also learned that I need to make sure I know the “ins and outs” of my craft and to study/ practice my craft. What I want the world to know about my story is that if you work hard and pray to God then you can literally get through any challenge in your life! Work hard, pray, and never give up! “I Can Do All Things Through Christ Who Strengthens Me”-Philippians 4:13

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my friend was visiting me I would most definetley take her to Atlanta. Honestly, my best friend and I would be in any every restaurant in Atlanta because we love food! LOL! My best friend, also named Dominique, share the same interests in food/drinks, places and hangout spots. It really doesn’t matter where we go in Atlanta because we will have a great time anywhere we go. In my opinion, the most fun and interesting places to check out are the Botanical Gardens, High Museum, and Ponce City Market.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My father, Anthony J. Davis, deserves recognition in my story. He is my manager and is always supportive when it comes to me modeling and acting. He also works in the entertainment industry, as a result he has been able to educate me about the entertainment industry and makes sure that I take care of my business. With his knowledge he is able to guide me toward or make me aware of different opportunities. The number one thing that I am very appreciative for is my father’s support!
