Meet Dominique Bowden | Floral Designer & Entrepreneur

We had the good fortune of connecting with Dominique Bowden and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dominique, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Growing up, I watched my mom create beautiful floral arrangements, and she learned that same love for flowers from my great-grandmother, who was always planting and nurturing flowers. It became more than just something pretty—it was a tradition, a form of expression, and a way to bring people joy. Seeing that passion passed down through generations inspired me to turn it into something of my own. My business is not just about selling flowers; it’s about continuing that legacy and sharing the love and beauty of flowers with others.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Floral design is more than arranging flowers—it’s storytelling. What sets me apart is my focus on artistry and personalization, creating arrangements that feel unique and meaningful.
Starting my business while in college hasn’t been easy, but my passion for flowers and the support of my friends and community kept me going. I’ve learned that growth comes from taking risks and trusting the process.
At the heart of my brand is a love for flowers, inspired by my mom, great-grandmother, and the history of Black florists. My goal is to create beauty, inspire others, and continue a legacy of floral artistry.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
While my mom and great-grandmother sparked my love for flowers, I also want to recognize the Black florists who have paved the way in this industry. Their artistry, resilience, and contributions inspire me daily. Floral design is more than just arranging flowers—it’s an art form, and I’ve always been drawn to creative expression. Seeing the history behind Black florists reminds me that I’m part of something bigger, which pushes me to grow in my craft.
I also have to give credit to my friends and community. Their encouragement—from supporting my vision to spreading the word about my business—has meant everything. Having people who believe in me has made this journey even more special.
