We had the good fortune of connecting with Dominick Racano and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dominick, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
I feel that one of the most impactful things a human can do for another is to help them feel seen and heard. By giving artists a platform to tell their stories, share their hard work and connect to other like-minded individuals, they are encouraged to continue bringing their creative thoughts to life. This encouragement snowballs when people watch or hear these stories and discover a piece of themselves within characters. It’s a reminder that you are not alone.
With All The Laughs (ATL) Comedy Awards, our goal is to bring people together, in a space where they can let their guard down through laughter, push each other to be their best selves, collaborate with fellow comics and support one another to continue storytelling. One of the hardest things about being an artist is getting your work in front of the masses. That’s what ATL is determined to do. The world needs a pick-me-up. Let’s start a new pandemic, the most contagious yet– laughter.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
It’s never easy pursuing a career in the arts, but what’s even harder is NOT pursuing it. Regardless of the challenge, I know my passion and purpose, so I must follow that. Along the way, I’ve learned that there is much more power in collaboration than trying to go it solo. We are stronger together. It’s my goal to help others stay on track in their creative endeavors by cultivating an environment that supports creative thinking, positivity and partnership. I’m particularly excited to see what stories get stirred up and what new partnerships are formed at this year’s ATL Comedy Awards!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Well, I’d first have to start at Ponce City Market, because not only is it a fun, unique, historic spot, but it’s also very supportive of the arts! After a little browsing of some of the shoppes there, we’d probably step outside onto the Beltline for a stroll. It’s a short walk from there to The Claremont Hotel, which has an amazing rooftop. We’d catch the golden hour up there with a drink, then probably wrap the day up with a spicy gin cocktail at Seven Lamps in Buckhead.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’m dedicating this to every independent creative working hard, struggling, and sacrificing. The visionaries getting knocked down, but who never fail to get back up and do it all over again.
