We had the good fortune of connecting with Domineke Nelson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Domineke, what makes you happy? Why?
Making other people happy makes me happy. I recently saw a Tik Tok where a girl said her friend was very into mental health so her friend did what she could to protect hers. That’s literally me. Because I constantly deal with mental health issues, through my social media, I try to be a light for others. If it was up to me, I’d do whatever it took to make everyone happy!! I just cant stand the thought of someone being down. On a less serious note, a good dessert can really lift my mood and a good laugh with my friends!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I don’t really talk about my job much publicly but I work for a healthcare IT company where I am training coordinator on a project with the Department of Defense. I actually enjoy what I do! I get to meet some great people along the way but I think my favorite part is watching the project you planned actually come into fruition. Now if we’re talking social media, I’d consider myself a micro-influencer. I have been creating content for years but 2022 is the first time I have been super consistent. It was extremely difficult balancing both jobs this year. I travel 80-100% for work and had little to no time to create content but I got it done. Saturdays were really the only full day I had at home so I literally had to create my week of content on that day.. Id pack/repack and lay out my outfits for content on Friday night when I landed, run all my errands and create my content on Saturday and fly back out on Sunday! I am not a planner nor a very structured person but those months of being on a tight schedule really showed me the only thing stopping me from where I want to be is dedication and discipline.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I am such a homebody but I am working on getting out of the house more! Leroy Fox is one of my favorite restaurants, so I’d start there for brunch or lunch. Id probably then enjoy a little turnup at Cloud!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My shoutout is dedicated to my mother. She is literally my backbone.. I know its cliché but I really wouldn’t be here without her. She is hands down my biggest fan and best advocate! Also, my grandmother. Her prayers have been protecting me for years and she constantly speaks life into me! Lastly, my friends! I wont name individuals but you know who you are! Thank you for being a listening ear, sharing my content, sending me content ideas and just being overall amazing humans!
