Meet Dom Cadeo | Creative Producer & Music Arist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Dom Cadeo and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dom, can you share the most important lesson you’ve learned over the course of your career?
Never lose sight of the vision. I’ve learned many lessons, but this one has kept me grounded throughout my journey. It’s easy to get discouraged when things don’t go your way, so maintaining clarity through the hard times is imperative. Goals come with many challenges, and we don’t always know what the outcome will be, so staying prepared and focused has been a huge lesson for me in my career.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
When I was 18 years old, I recorded my first rap song. One month later, I was on my way to South Carolina to begin a 4-year contract with the U.S Army. I became one of the top soldiers in my unit, but all I could think about was creating music, so that’s what I did during my spare time. When I got out of the Army, I went to college for the next 5 years learning sound engineering and film production. During that time, I went through many ups and downs, but I learned how important faith is to success. Nothing worth having comes easy, so if you really want something in life you have to believe in it more than anyone else.
I come from a small town called Alexandria, located in central Louisiana. The crime rate is one of the worst in the country, and not many people make it out. When I started Prophecy Vision, I thought about my upbringing and how much it’s shaped my mindset throughout the years. I always saw past my circumstances, and that’s what I want to help others see. It’s not about where you come from, it’s about where you’re going.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
First, we’d go to Kennesaw mountain for a hike and see the view. It’s lovely up there. I enjoy working out a lot, it’s become a form of therapy for me. On day two, we would go to East Atlanta and check out Little Five points. The art scene is beautiful, and there’s plenty of other creative people to connect with. Day three, I’d say Lenox Mall. You can’t come to Atlanta and not hit up Lenox. Day four, we’d go to The Works. It’s kind of lowkey but the atmosphere is amazing. There are plenty of restaurants to choose from and they offer indoor and outdoor seating. I highly recommend going there. If the Hawks are playing, day 5 would be dedicated to checking out a game at Phillips Arena. I’m a Saints fan, so watching a Falcons game wouldn’t sit well with my family back home. Day six, I’d recommend the High Museum. I always try to check out the new exhibitions when they open up. Day seven would be dedicated to just exploring downtown, especially at night!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My mentor, William Hawkins has been a key part of my growth over the past few years. Will has given me so much knowledge about the industry and was one of the first people to believe in me and my music, so I appreciate him a lot.
