We had the good fortune of connecting with Dohsi and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dohsi, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
It is no surprise that music in general has the ability to influence and I believe my music does nothing short of that. My music is not only a vibe but, it sparks conversation about very real and unspoken things in Rnb/Soul today. I involve a certain level of vulnerability in my music that can speak to people and make them feel like they are not alone. Also, I believe my music addresses the feelings we most times suppress or don’t even know exists. Lastly, the versatility my music brings is able to transcend many different spaces and reach who it needs to.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’ve been involved in the arts my whole life but because of societal and family expectations I never thought that becoming an artist was even an option for me. That was until I spent a year working in corporate which I believe revealed my purpose. Although the people in these professional spaces knew that I was talented, I did not want to be know as the “manager who sings” or the “specialist who does music.” So at a certain point, I decided that music was no longer going to be something secondary. Now I am just known as an “artist” and it is the best decision I ever made.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
-First we would visit one of my favorite Haitian spots in Atlanta called “Spice House.” – Living room is an Afroclub in North Atlanta that I can always count on to bring the vibes.
-Thrift shopping in Little five points is a must.
– One thing that is a guilty pleasure of mine is driving around in the wealthy areas of Atlanta to look at the huge Mansions. They just give me a certain level of motivation that I need sometimes.
-Open Mics (buteco, etc)
-The Studio for sure!!!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to give a shout out to my family and friends who have been so supportive in my transition to becoming an artist. They keep me grounded and constantly remind me of who I am.
