Meet Dj Tootz: Twin Female Djs

We had the good fortune of connecting with Dj Tootz and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dj, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factor behind our success so far is to continue having fun. Once you make what ever your passion is a job, its not fun anymore. Don’t think about money so much, because it will come. Just have fun, and keep going.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
So as we stated before, we are Twin Female Djs based out of Atlanta, GA. We moved to Atlanta a little over a year ago from Memphis, TN. We wanted to elevate djing and Atlanta has helped us do just that. Atlanta is the city of hustlers and opportunity. It was only right we make that move. But that was just the first step. There are so many people that do what we do in Atlanta. There may not be any female twins yet but there are plenty of other great djs. And we knew we had to stand out from the rest. We got heavily involved in the roller skating community, we started a YouTube channel “Tootz Tv” , and we continued to make connections with numerous socialites and industry gurus. Not only are we twin djs but we are also the official djs for QC Artist Duke Duece, resident djs at Cascade Skating rink, cast on the upcoming tv show “Djs of Atlanta” and members of the elite dj group “Core Djs”. It was definitely not easy to get to where we are. We still have so far to go. This industry is male dominated and can be difficult to navigate as women. But we never let that keep us down. We just keep going. If there’s one thing we have learned so far, it is that there’s always a way. So if you have to, make one. We want the world to know that there are women who dj as well. There are women who can tour with major artist and rock shows just as good as any man can. We also want the world to know that Dj Tootz has so much to offer and we are just getting started.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We would definitely take our befriend to hike Stone Mountain. We would grab a bite to eat at Slutty Vegan and then go skating at Cascade Skating Rink. Going to the aquarium is never a bad a idea. And we could also go to the Trap Museum. We could go out to 2 Chainz’s lounge “Escobar” for drinks and a good time, and then go to Mama’s. They sell the best empanadas.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Our older brother, Nick Rice, definitely deserves way more than credit and recognition. He has been there from the start and never gives up on us. He is out biggest supporter. Because of him wanting to dj, it made us want to dj as well. He’s our rid or die and we couldn’t do any of this without him,
