We had the good fortune of connecting with DJ Savant and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi DJ Savant, how do you think about risk?
Taking risks, for me, is like this. Imagine you’ve been walking on a well-lit path that most people walk on but then acting on the urge to walk off into a path that you can’t see that has no light. All because you feel something calling you. In July 2023, I had that gravitational pull away from my norm, my comfort zone, and towards that unknown direction by quitting my job with just a two-week notice and a handful of booked gigs. It was a moment filled with all kinds of emotions. The excitement of “I’M REALLY DOING THIS!” The Focus and determination to pull it off. And the fear of failing and having something in my home, with my wife and son, turned off! AND THEN especially coming right after eye surgery and joining team Dirty 30! It’s been a whirlwind of a year, but I’m still flying high even though I am just getting the hang of this. While I’ve always lived with no regrets and embraced each failure as a lesson, this leap was a game-changer. “Regret Nothing; Learn From Everything.” That was even my yearbook quote! Haha!

Facing the possibility of not making enough to cover my bills was daunting, but the thrill of pushing into discomfort became a driving force. The gigs I had lined up were my lifeline, and, fortunately, I haven’t missed a bill yet. This experience taught me that progress often lies beyond our comfort zones. Sure, you can play it safe and make slow progress, but if you want to excel and reach those big goals, taking risks is the accelerator you need.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
As DJ Savant, I wear many hats – from the Clean DJ, providing a family-friendly experience, to the Turnt DJ for high-energy afterparties, to the curator behind the vibes of Radio Savant mixes. And let’s not forget my down-to-earth country boy charm! What truly sets me apart as a professional is my commitment to authenticity. I despise the typical sales pitch. I’m all about cultivating genuine connections with my clients. And it’s not just about the music – it’s about curating an unforgettable experience. In a world driven by trends, I prefer forging my own path. Challenging perspectives is woven into the fabric of who I am. After all, what’s life without a bit of adventure and creative rebellion, am I right? You could say my journey to becoming DJ Savant was written in the stars. It all started when my wife hired DJ Dre 1800 of 1800 Media Group. He saw the DJ in me, an idea I scoffed at even though I had the prior experience education, and personality for it. If that isn’t fate, I don’t know what is! And as we worked together for years, I fell in love with the craft. Fast forward to meeting DJ Ros on Instagram through a Reddit recommendation, and that’s how our paths crossed. While fate played a hand in guiding me to where I am today, it wasn’t an easy path. It’s been a wild ride, full of turbulence, self-discovery, and challenges that have shaped me into the DJ I am today. The journey has been as melodic as it has been unpredictable, but that’s what makes it so exciting.
Navigating this journey and finding Success hasn’t come easy, especially since I lacked proper prior blueprints or guidance. But the universe has a funny way of nudging you in the right direction, and the introduction to your team by DJ Ros was one of those cosmic winks. It’s been a wild ride, but affirmations like that keep me fueled up and ready to tackle whatever comes my way.
The key has been learning from each obstacle, turning setbacks into stepping stones. Each setback is a chance to pivot, to adapt, and to come back stronger. It’s about holding onto your passion, while still remaining flexible enough to evolve as the world changes around you. My passion is my North Star, guiding me to stay true to it while adapting to the ever-changing landscape of life.

As for what I want the world to know about DJ Savant, it’s that I’m not just a DJ; I’m a connection master, a creator of moments that linger in the hearts of those who experience them. My brand is a fusion of artistry, adaptability, resourcefulness, and a relentless drive to challenge the status quo – a force best witnessed live on the dancefloor, through my communication with clients, and in my Radio Savant mixes on SoundCloud, YouTube, and beyond. And I’m not just talking about myself here – a good friend of mine once told me, “You’re vulnerable, accepting, encouraging, and supportive… You have an eccentric outlook on life that compliments mine even though we’re different.” This is exactly the kind of connection I strive for. I want my clients and fans to feel seen, heard, and appreciated, just as I hope they do for me.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend were visiting, I’d kick off the adventure with breakfast at Flying Biscuit near Candler Park – an absolute MUST! From there, we’d dive into the vibrant energy of Little Five Points and maybe grab a burger at The Vortex, then explore the Beltline and Ponce City Market for stunning views and activities. To wind down, we’d head to Sultana Lounge for some chill hookah and quality chat vibes.

But truth be told, anywhere with my best friend is the spot to be! As long as the music is right, and the atmosphere is on point, it’s guaranteed to be the most exciting and fun place. After all, the best experiences are the ones shared with great company, right? Haha!”

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Yes! “Superstar DJ ROS” my DJ Mentor and author of “How To Be A Million Dollar DJ” and if I can name a few others briefly: Hasani P my Life Mentor, Arria my wife, and my core Silky, Three, DJ Dre 1800, and LaLa. They are all equally important to a direct addition to my story
